Vitamin d drops

Recommended by my pedi to give DD vit d drops. Seems as tho she's constipated and having a harder time passing a BM. Anyone else with this issue? She hasn't had an issue prior to vit d.

Re: Vitamin d drops

  • I've noticed our LO is a lot fussier being on the drops, but it could also be his age? He still has a ton of poop diapers a day! (At least 1 per feed and he nurses 12+ times a day).

  • LO seems to be acting like it is harder to poop lately and we have been using the drops, but I'm not sure if it's related. A few others have mentioned that the "painful poop" might be an age thing.
  • I'm wondering now if this is why my LO was super fussy yesterday! I am using the Enfamil D Vi Sol.

  • i introduced the drops about a week ago and haven't seen any material difference in BMs

  • I've heard of that issue from friends. My pedi instead has me take vitamin d so she'll get it through breastmilk... Is that an option?
  • We were sent home on pol-vi-sol and I stopped as soon as we came home.  He was having problems with constipation and blood in his poo until I stopped the drops and my pedi said they can certainly mess with babies so sometimes you have to try a few different kinds or try cod liver oil.

I never did them with ODS either though, we just made sure to get plenty of natural light(our living room has a picture window so we tend to keep the overhead off and spend a lot of time in there since its not direct sunlight) and I increased my intake while BF.
