Life nest crib mattress

 So I've come across this mattress that is supposed to help prevent against flat head syndrome and SIDS. Has anyone had experience with this or have any thoughts? Would it be worth the $150? Obviously won't be buying anything for awhile but it's nice to know what's out there.

    That is an incredibly stupid design.  Link didn't work so I googled, and I'm amazed it got any stars at all on the BRU website.  Obviously it is looking to prevent SIDS that occurs after the baby rolls onto its stomach, but if a baby can wiggle enough to get on their belly, they will have wiggled right down that wedge and off the safe spot anyway.   I wouldn't waste money on that.

    Thanks! That thought did cross my mind when I was looking at it. How small of a space there is for baby to lay on. I think the main reason for it (on the website I was looking at) was to prevent flat head syndrome. Thanks for your input!

    Looks like something a rolling baby could just get stuck under. To prevent SIDS use a firm crib mattress.

    Yeah, that doesn't look safe to me at all and I wouldn't use it.  You can prevent your baby from getting flat spots by not letting them lay in a crib/bouncer/swing for long periods of time.  When you do have your baby laying on the floor, crib etc just remember to rotate the direction in which they look so they are not favoring one side over the other.

    I have used this product with my child for three months. We started using it for acid reflux. It keeps the child elevated and the Lifenest greatly reduced my child's symptoms and helped. The mesh actually keeps the child in place so they cannot scoot off of it like other wedges. This coupled with the Miracle Blanket were a life saver for us.

    Also to address the question about the space for the baby, it holds my child easily and she is 15 pounds. As far as the design, the wedge fits from the side to side so its difficult for the child to get under it.

    I would definitely buy this product again.

    Fwiw, pretty sure the AAP recommends against any type of sleep positioner.

    The LifeNest is no longer a wedge design (the new and current only version has been out for over a year now) and it absolutely keeps the child in place, even if you have a super-active child like my 5-month old!  I am a physical therapist that works with toddlers and adults, and my child uses this every single day: It is honestly a miracle product, and if there is ANY doubt whatsoever about its safety inside your crib, the company (www.ubimed.com) is coming out with a full-sized mattress within the next 2 months so that the AAP can finally promote it as the only SIDS preventing product on the market.  I will be buying this one immediately, depending on the price point, and switch out my current mattress, so my daughter can use it until she is 2 years old.  She simply sleeps so well in this, and her head is perfectly shaped now, and her spit up falls right through so I can wipe it away in the morning. Also, It has reversed Plagiocephaly in several children, and it keeps babies' temperature regulated and breathing easy while always keeping their heads properly "cushioned" with air, rather than pressing on a hard, flat surface causing deformations.  I honeslty

    I could see possibly buying this when the babies were younger, but now at almost 8 months old, they are rolling around so much in the crib trying to get comfortable, I don't see the point of keeping them in a central location on their back. Pretty soon they're going to be able to pull up and stand up, so I'm not seeing this product being useful in the near future. Also at this age, I don't think you need to worry about a flathead because the babies are sitting up, doing tummy time, rolling over. It's not like they are on their backs all day like they may have been when they were two or three months old. I wouldn't purchase it, but that's just my opinion.

    Eta: just realized this post is over a year old! I was wondering why someone would buy this for an eight-month-old baby LOL
