Crazy Blood Pressure

Just got done with my NST and my blood pressure was only 110/39, freaking me out but they say I am okay. I have always been at 120/80. Anybody else getting crazy blood pressure readings?

Re: Crazy Blood Pressure

  • That seems scary low. Mine has been crazy, but on the opposite end. It keeps spiking for no reason (like when I'm just sitting on the couch, no stress). Hope everything is ok.

  • The top number is way more important than the bottom number.  Don't let the diastolic pressure get you down!

False. This is a prime example of why everyone needs to take the advice of their doctors and medical professionals over the crap internet strangers spew.

  • Mine is usually 90s/50s. Mine went up to 126/76. I was worried bc that is higher for me. My dr wasn't worried and said it was still in a safe range n

  • I would only be concerned about that number if you were symptomatic - feeling lightheaded, pale, cool extremities, thready pulses in your wrists or feet, etc. One blood pressure reading doesn't mean much. I don't know if your offices uses automatic cuffs or manual, but a lot can cause a false funky reading. If you feel alright, I would not be concerned.

My OB told me the exact opposite. The top number is more easily affected by pain, stress, distress, etc. She said the bottom number is more indicative of something being wrong.
Yeah I was also told that bottom number was way more important
  • Thanks everyone, nice to know I am not alone :) I asked the pharmacist tonight when I went to walgreens if he could check it and it was much closer to my "normal" ...110/60...just a fluke thing I guess

no, bottom number is the one you want to look at. If my bp at home gets to 90+ I have to go to l&d no matter what the top number is

    It's a BOY

  • My normal is about 100/50
