3rd Trimester

from leaking to spraying?

breasts started leaking months ago, with of course an increased amount lately and yellowish (colostrum i  guess) liquid.

today the left one sprayed! i didn't realize that could actually happen. has anyone seen their breasts react/transition this way prior to birth?

i don't by any means think anything is wrong, but curious if it's possibly just a sign labor is getting closer. it was actually pretty shocking and funny all at the same time lol.  :\">

  • Not me. I just started leaking this weekend (35w), it kinda weirded me out a little, but now I am freaked out!

  • I was surprised when we took a breastfeeding class i was one of the few women there who said she was leaky. perhaps i thought this was more common, or i just have really wet breasts? they said in the class the called women who produced excessive amounts of milk "overproducers" O_o that was an interesting class to say the least lol.

  • I overproduce yet never leak & surely have never sprayed ever,,, even when I've had the baby & I'm letting down,, it's just a dribble if it leaks. couldn't imagine a spray right now... sounds powerful!!!!

Lucky you! That probably means you can produce lots of milk. :)

  • I hope so! I really want to breastfeed :D
    Fingers crossed! ^_^
Good thing I can make use of all those freebie breast pad insert thingies the OB's office is always including in the little kits and magazines lol

  • haha, spraying? Oh dear...that would make for funny/awkward times with the husband. "oh, sorry! Did I get your eye?"

I haven't leaked yet...I've only just seen some tiny bits of dried colostrum/milk/whatever.

I leaked my third tri with DD, and would definitely "spray" whenever I took off my bra if it had been more than maybe 3hrs without nursing/pumping for at least the first nine months. She nursed until 2.5, and by the end my supply was finally down to where I didn't need breast pads for leaking. But I had to live in those suckers day and night for about two years straight.

I never considered myself an "overproducer", but it wasn't difficult to build up a freezer supply while on Maternity Leave because I'd have to pump before nursing a couple of times a day during the first few weeks so that I wasn't drowning poor DD with my let-down.

I'm 31 weeks with #2, and I've been leaking for about a month now. NBD. I do consider myself extremely lucky that I never had to worry about supply though. I will always be more than happy to live in breast pads than to have to worry about needing to supplement!

No. Once again, you're extremely wrong.

OP, I leaked but never produced very much. It's a crapshoot.
