? for anyone who has read the Outlander series.

I just started the second book, and am freaking out a little bit. Does the second book have Jamie in it? I read somewhere that the books can be read independently and I am already wanting to skip this one. I have heard the 3rd book is awesome. So, can someone please give me a reason not to skip the second book?

    Don't skip any of the books.  Some are slower than others, but there are things written in the 7th book that can be referenced back to the first few books.  I don't know if I could read them independently.

    I wouldn't skip any of them, they all lend to the story. And Jamie's in all of them.

    It's been a while since I've read them, but I would not skip.  I do remember that there were 1 or 2 that didn't hold my attention as well, but I don't really see them as stand alone books.
