Bedrest ladies: How do you fight the boredom?

Mad props to all of you that have been on bedrest for awhile! You are some strong ladies. How the heck do you fight off cabin fever?

Only starting week 2 and feel like I'm losing it. The drive bys helped for a bit :)

Re: Bedrest ladies: How do you fight the boredom?

  • I've only been on a week so feel like I can't complain yet. I agree with bein frustrated seeing the things all around you need to do!! I feel like I am a burden but luckily I have a great family. I have had a pb&J sandwich for 7 days in a row for lunch. My husband asked me yesterday (for the first time) what I was eating for lunch. Does he think my meals magically appear?! Hang in there girls. TV, books, FB, TB, and sleep:) I am also trying to do all my thank you cards.

I've been trying to stay as busy as possible...I'm finishing up crocheting the baby's blanket, I've been working on two canvases with quotes for her room. I've been trying to visit with someone every other day. Next on the agenda is to start Doenton Abbey on Netflix.

  • I am in the hospital so no Netflix here. Maybe I could get it on my lap top. So far there has been many tears starting week 2 off. It's just the realization of no control.
I have visitors in the evening. Sometimes co workers stop by on a break. Texting and bumping like crazy. I also don't have cable at home so it's a treat for me to watch all these insane reality shows. My SO is out of work on an injury so he is handy to have around. Even to just hold my hand while I nap. My stepdaughter visits but gets board easily. So they don't stay long at nights. Family brings me food. Been meaning to work on thank you cards but So can't find the gift list.

    Hang in there. It's tough.
  • Netflix, Hulu, doing my nails, pinterest, getting the birth announcements ready, books, online games and the bump!
  • Netflix, movies, texting and emailing, Pinterest, ordering baby stuff I need from BRU and Amazon, writing and editing the therapy workbooks I've been creating for the last 2 years, playing on TB, playing Words with Friends, my mom is teaching me how to knit, texting DH to-do lists to keep him busy :)
  • I read, occasionally watch a movie (I'm not a big movie or tv fan), do puzzles, write thank you notes, and make lists of things for other people to do.
My favorite thing though is online jigsaw puzzles. I use jigzone.com- it's free and they have a new one every day plus tons and tons of old ones. You can even upload your own photos to have them made into puzzles, plus tons of different cuts (not just your traditional pieces) to choose from. It times you to, so I have fun racing against the average time to see if I can beat it. That keeps me busy for hours.
I also made one mobile for the nursery and hope to finish the second today.

  • I had 14 weeks of bed rest with DD#1, and I stocked up on movies, tv shows, and coloring books. I bought lots of coloring books. Silly I'm sure, but it was very calming to me, and was out of my "norm".

One of the hospital housekeepers just gave me three packets of word searches and puzzles! I'm pretty stoked. ;)
