Stay at Home Moms

Randoms?

Taylor and Dylan were up from 12:30-1 am last night puking.  Both seem to be totally fine today.  WTF?!  I am thankful for that....  but it's more work for 2 kids to be home and feel good.

Re: Randoms?

  • DS is becoming awful about bedtime.  Last night, it was 10:30 and we were still fighting with him to stay in bed.  I know this means I need to eliminate the afternoon nap.  I don't want to.  I need that little slice of piece in the afternoon when both kids are napping.

  • Ugh, non-sick sick kids are so hard!  Good luck today!

I have a vent/AW: Yesterday was insane.  I ran 2 1/2 miles in the morning, then went to DD's PE class, where we ran for almost the whole 45 minute class.  Then, after a lovely playdate, we came home to a completely stopped up toilet.  I plunged that m-effer for over an hour, sprinkling a fine mist of poop water around the toilet.  Gross.  DH finally came home and was able to fix it.  So then I went to work in the yard and weeded one whole side of the front garden beds.  Looks awesome!  THEN, I saw my neighbor outside freaking out.  She has new renters moving into her house this morning, and still had so much shit to do in the house (like painting every room), and her husband was at work, and her three children underfoot.  I went over after my kids were asleep and helped her paint.  I was there until 1 in the morning, and she still had work to do.  Looks like she got it done, though.

But the big vent?  I broke our French press and now I can't make coffee.  Waaaaaaaahhhhh!
    Now that is an emergency!!!

We're breaking glass right and left here.....last night DH knocked a glass of water onto the kitchen floor and it hit just perfectly so it shattered. Then this morning, L demonstrated that he has grown again and could reach this little candle I had on a bookshelf that I thought was out of reach. He held it out to me and then dropped it on the floor....cue explosion of frosted glass. Thankfully I was able to move the boys out of harm's way fast enough that they didn't get cut either time and I was able to vacuum it all up....but two broken glasses in two days....wonder how many years of bad luck that is.... :-P

Next week I have a conference for my part-time job that I'm getting paid to attend. It's two days but I'll stay overnight between the days. It will be my first night away from the boys. I'm excited but nervous, and definitely in denial that it's only a week away!

It's raining cats and dogs right now....I'm grateful it isn't snow, I guess, but am getting so sick of being inside all the time. I think I'm going to take the boys to my mom's when they wake up...they can break glass over there.....

  • @mamaalysson‌ you are such a sweet neighbor. And sorry about the French press :(

I downloaded a sleep tracking app last week and looking at the graphs is my favorite part of the morning (after hitting play on the coffee).

  • Ds calls pineapple "Apple pie". O-kay.

DH is coming to the end of his job, and that's stressful because of not knowing how long he'll be off or where he'll work next. However, DS and I are super excited to have him around more. Today we talked about all the things we'll do with DH while he's off work and DS was so happy.

My birthday is tomorrow, and I am a little sad that I can't go out with DH and have a birthday supper tomorrow. He gets off so late and the babies go to bed so early. I know I am too old to care about birthdays, but I can't help it. I feel silly for feeling this way.
My birthday is this week as well.  Can you have someone come over while they are sleeping so you can still go out?
Mine is Sunday and I think we will go out Saturday night, Sunday morning and have people over for dinner Sunday night.  :)

I love when DH is home, and I love how excited the kids get to have him around more!  What did you all come up with to do with him?

MH took this week off.  He's spending most of it working in the backyard, and he still has a couple of meetings he has to attend, but it's so nice to just be in the same space as him.  Today he took DD to school, and he is staying part of the morning to visit in her classroom.  And Thursday he has an out-of-town presentation, so we're going to tag along.  No where exciting, but we'll stay in a hotel with a pool and have a change of scenery.  I'm ridiculously excited.

We are almost done setting up our garden, so he'll finish that and then we'll go to the beach. DS just wants his daddy to do normal things like take him to OMSI or to Red Yarn.

Hopefully when the "real" time off comes around we will be going to Steens Mt. and Owyhee Canyon. I've always wanted to go there. We also have a raft trip planned on the John Day river, but that is so timing-specific that well have to see if it lines up or not.

DS only sees DH from 6:15-8:00. Sometimes DH can't even stay awake that late. It's kinda sad.

A trampoline just flew past our window.  It wasn't ours, thankfully.

The crappy weather is making the kids sleepy.  Both have been sleeping for the past 3 hours!!
<:-P  At least I hope it is the weather and not from something they caught from the neighbor kid or else I will have to change  the emoticon.

  • Happy early Birthday, @Ceebug! :)

  • It took THREE FREAKING HOURS at the clinic today to have DD seen and get her meds. I was ready to cut someone.
  • @Kimbus: I think you look great! And I love the hair:)

I think DD2 is officially forward mobile. It's kind of a drag, pull up crawl, but she's moving. I'm not ready!!!!
Mine's older, but mine army crawls to the nearest piece of furniture, pulls up and cruises. I'm crying.
    Mine started walking today.  #notready

  • DS found our pepper shaker and emptied the entire thing on our carpet.
  • Had a great afternoon w/ the boys at my mom's house.....they played quietly and I actually got to (mostly) chill on her couch and watch movies....that never happens! We get home and N is feeling warm....has a temp of 99.7. He felt cooler after his nap but then didn't eat any dinner and by bedtime his temp was up to 100.2. L was also inconsolably cranky at dinner. I wonder what's up....my first thought is teething issues....I really hope they're not getting sick.

You look great!  Would it make you feel better to tell you I gained 76 pounds when I was pregnant with DD?  Talk about a hippo!

  • 1. Dd just growled at me when she finished nursing. Then she sighed. I love baby noises!
    2. Dh has a cold so he slept downstairs and I am freezing in bed alone. Normally I have no problem taking up the whole bed and getting comfy.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!

I'm probably up 25lbs this pregnancy.  Unfortunately I still had the 15 I gained when pregnant with Joey plus 5lbs of "fuck it I'm lazy" weight on when I got pregnant this time.....

I'm just stupefied because when I was pregnant last time my belly barely went past my boobs.  I'm afraid I'm going to have a 20lb baby.
I am most scared about this when I get pregnant again.  I really can't imagine my belly  much bigger than it was with DD.  My boobs rested on my belly last time :(  She was only 8 pounds at birth.
