  They will induce due to small estimated weight/growth because there could be an issue with your placenta not providing enough to keep your LO growing, or some other issue that would result in inconsistent growth.

  When DD was born she was 5 lb 4 oz.  The Dr. said that they were glad she was induced because the placenta hadn't been providing her with enough nutrients for her to gain weight and that she would gain more 'on the outside' at that point.

  I don't have experience, just wanted to say good luck.  I'm surprised they didn't notice your measurements were trending behind at your last few appointments.  But as pp's said it could def be she's not getting what she needs, you're full term so she'd be about ready to come out.

  I was induced at 38 weeks due to IUGR, had an u/s the day prior to induction, her weight was estimated at 4lbs (4th %ile). She was born the next day, weighing 6lbs, 6oz.

  Not.gonna lie you just made me feel tons better!
  
  We had an ultrasound at 31 weeks a 3d one and everything looked perfect and they guesstimated her then at 4 lbs. The unfortunate thing about my ob office is you see someone different each time you go as they have 5 doctors there and the one on call will be the one that delivers you so i think when my stomach measurements were a little off on different times they probably played it off as oh that doctor just measures differently.

  Just left the doc and have to go in at 5 to get this thing called cervidil inserted. The they will break my water in the morning and start pitocin if I need it.

  It sounds like you have iugr. My ds had tgat. Personally, I would not mess around with it. At this point, baby will do better outside. Just be prepared that sometimes iugr babies do not tolerate labor well so a c section may be needed.

  IF DX: DOR & Fragile X pre-mutation carrier
  2011: FSH 13.3 & E 99; AMH 0.54 2nd FSH 6.2 E 40's AFC: 8
  BFP from Clomid/IUI ~ Pre-e and IUGR during pregnancy ~ DS born 9/4/12
  Feb./March 2013: AMH less than 0.16 (undectable) and AFC = 4;

  Well Miss Mila made it safely and is healthy. Extremely sleepy still and wont suck my nipple so we have been having to finger train which she does great with she just cant figure out how to not tongue or chomp my nipple out. She just kind of passes out when I put her on it. The lactation ladies said were both doing the right things but im hoping she pull out of this sleep cycle and take to my boob. Going home today and still finger training
  
  Otherwise she is absolutely perfect!

  Congrats! I guess the induction went well. Don't know if she did end up being small, but if she did, my iugr son had a lot of latching problems, too.

  She was 5lb10oz and 20 inches long so not terribly small. Thing is she actually latches but is just too lazy to suck my nipple. The lactation consultant said she is just wanting instant gratification.

  Thanks everybody! Now that my colostrum is thinning out she is able to go with just the nipple shield and no sns still wont take the nipple but seems to progress a lil more each time! Waking her up every 4 hoirs still tho as she doesnt seem to care to wake up. Now just to get her to take the nipple and wake herself up to eat and were set!
