@esd well we now have more questions than answers. The ultrasound didn't show anything concerning. Which I guess is good but still don't know what is causing the puking. Here is what the vet wrote up (he told me all this over the phone too but glad he gave me a report).
Liver is diffusely larger than normal but echotexture over all is uniform and without evidence of masses; the stomach is being shifted slightly caudal due to the size of the liver; kidneys , spleen normal. Stomach showed normal layering characteristics and bowel did not appear to be overly thickened or irregular; no free abdominal fluid noted; no particular cause of the vomiting could be found on ultrasound.

We administered anzemet, an anti nausea med and sending home cerenia. Also sending home metoclopramide liquid to improve GI motility and hopefully facilitate gastric emptying.

As discussed, our current rule out diagnoses would be inflammatory bowel disorder, intestinal or gastric cancer or a primary gastric motility disorder. If the above prescribed therapy does not resolve the issue, we will need to consider either an endoscopic biopsy procedure or a surgical exploratory with biopsy of the GI tract. (And then if I want a second opinion , he can recommend another doctor).

Anything you can tell me about those two possible procedures? Thanks again for letting me bounce this off you! Just want my fur baby better!!!!

Thanks! I wanted to try and use up the pills I already bought for thyroid but not sure if it is worth it anymore if I keep missing dosages. I will go and buy the can food to see if it helps before doing the surgeries. Do you know if there are any brands sold at grocery stores or pets stores (or even online) or is it something I have to buy at the vet? Thanks for explaining the surgeries. I guess the only question is which one do I go for? I guess try the wet food and see if that helps. I want less invasive , of course, especially with her age, but I also don't want to go through what I just did (paying for an X-ray then an ultrasound. Of course, it is a guessing game but wish we just did the ultrasound first but that is only knowledge I have now because the X-ray didn't show anything; hindsight is 50/50).

The vet did say he could suggest a specialist for a second opinion if I want. I asked if he discusses this with the other vets in the office. He said they have weekly meetings to discuss special cases. He had not discussed precious yet but can bring it up. I figured maybe extra minds, but I trust that he is doing everything he thinks is best and no one will know the answer until they find the problem. (If that makes sense, I don't think another vet will know what is wrong without finding some kind of answer first). I don't know if I should see a specialist. It is hard with a cat. My baby, I know a specialist is $35 with a cat, oh boy! Out of pocket! I don't want it to be a financial issue and I'll do anything for her but it is getting harder. $900 later and still no answers. Well, just eliminated some possibilities. Just frustrating. Thanks again! If you think of anything else, please let me know! I will get the can food today and think I will ask for the cream. Especially now that I have another pill and liquid I have to give her daily for a little bit. I can save the pills for a backup, like if I run out of cream on the weekend or something.

If you ever have a math question, let me know! Haha! I owe you a million answers. :)

With my two crazy cats and silly dog, I could keep you very busy ;) I always "joke" that I've personally paid for a wing at the vet's office. I also over worry and they may go to the vet to get checked out more than others. But they are my babies and I 100% believe people should only have pets if they can manage to take care of them.

I will check out the can food. Glad it comes in flavors! That might help. So far she has eaten a can of store bought stuff last night (neither cat will touch the expensive bland royal canin dry stuff!) and no throwing up. Hope I didn't just jinx myself!

I think the office now has 3 or 4 vets. It has crazy hours. Like till 8pm three nights a week and half day Saturdays. So not sure how often they are all there at the same time. He did say they briefly talk daily but have weekly meetings to discuss bigger cases. Not sure if Precious falls into that category but I just would like to have every mind possible trying to think up ideas. Ever watch House? I want a room full of people doing that! (If you never have watched it then that comment doesn't make sense, lol). I trust my vet and appreciate all he is doing. Just hoping someone feels stronger towards one idea over the other. I don't want to decide the procedure because I have no idea what is best.

    Thanks again for helping!!!!!!!!!
