Hi ladies! I have been lurking over here the past few months. I post mostly on TTCAL. I am 33 and H is 35. We have been married since 10/10 and have been TTC since shortly after. On 1/1/11 I received my first BFP. At my second appointment, they noticed there was no heartbeat and I opted for a D&C to have it taken care of quickly because I was so devastated. We were careful for a little while after and knew we weren't ready emotionally, so we decided to start trying again in the fall of 2011. I received BFP#2 on 12/30/11 and within a few weeks, I was bleeding and experienced a natural m/c. I kept hearing from the doctors that it was probably just a fluke and should be fine when we were ready to try again. I decided to see a MFM doctor who ran some blood work on me and everything came back "normal." He also told me that the two losses seemed like flukes and I should be OK when ready to try again. We received BFP#3 in February of 2013. My HCG levels were kind of wonky and they did not see anything in my uterus after monitoring my levels closely. They diagnosed the pregnancy as ectopic and I received Methotrexate. After the ectopic pregnancy, I had a HSG test done, as recommended by MFM and they said my tubes were clear and everything looked great. They again chalked that loss up to another fluke because, "You know that you can get pregnant." In November, I received BFP#4 and was bleeding within days of that BFP. After that loss, my OBGYN referred me to an RE for some answers because now I was at loss #4.
I had my first meeting with my RE at the end of January. He was very big on IVF off the bat, as this clinic is the top in NJ and pride themselves on their success rates. After that meeting, I had my CD3 blood work and they told me that my FSH was high (16.8), but my other hormones looked normal. I was waiting for all of the other results because I had all of the genetic/chromosomal testing completed as well. I also had a SHG and endo-biopsy (Ow! That was painful) and at the time, my RE didn't sound hopeless and told me to take 600mg of CoQ10 and 75mg of DHEA. In the meantime, H had his SA done while I was waiting for the results of my testing. I had a follow-up appointment scheduled and asked if everything was ready because I didn't want it to be a wasted trip. I was told that it was, so I went to my follow up. At that appointment, I found out that all the results were not in and he was basing his recommendations solely off of the CD3 panel. He told me that with a high FSH, I am a poor candidate for IVF and he recommended egg donor off the bat. He just threw out daunting statistics at me and I didn't have many of my questions answered. I left the appointment devastated and confused because there were no other results, so none of my other questions could be answered. He did say that the SA results were in and that his sperm was OK, "not stellar." When I began to ask questions, he said, "I am sorry, it is not your husband, it's you." It took me a lot of time to process the information I heard. Since then, I got back all the results which were normal other than my AMH level, which was .27. I have since expressed my disappointment with how my situation was handled and will now be participating in a Natural IVF study because my insurance doesn't cover any IVF cycles, and we do not have the money, especially since I am being told that I am not a good candidate.
So, our current plan is to do the retrieval in May and transfer in June. I am not sure what our back-up plan is at this point since I am feeling pretty hopeless. Thanks for reading and I am sorry that you ladies are in the same or similar boat as I am.
