Potty training depression? sleepiness?

We're potty training DS1 (33 months) and he seems to be getting it. He did awesome Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning. Since Sunday afternoon he's been acting weird on and off.
Came home from daycare today and laid down on the floor. Wouldn't eat dinner, even though it was something he loves. He just sat there looking like he was about to cry the whole meal. He told me the pee pee made him sad and that it slipped out when he was outside (DCP said he did great using the potty, just had an accident when they were playing outside).

I gently questioned him a little bit and I don't think any kids or anyone made him feel bad, but maybe he was ashamed?

As we were talking he started almost slurring his words and his eyes were sort of rolling back in his head and he basically passed out in my lap a good hour+ before bedtime. I think the slurred speech and eye thing was a symptom of falling asleep, but I'm really freaked out.

Did anyone's kid seem to be exhausted while potty training? Should I be worried this is something more?

We brought him up and changed into pjs and he's asleep in my lap again. He never sleeps on me.

Should I call the dr? I'm usually a really laid back, let's just keep an eye on it kind of parent, but I'm freaked out here.

  • No temp. He's been acting a little off since just after he started using the potty which is what makes me think they're connected. I kinda thought yesterday that he was getting sick, but then he rallied. Then he was a mess this morning, but no temp. Daycare said he was totally normal, happy, then this sadness/sleepiness when we got home.

It's probably nothing, but he's breaking my heart and worrying me.

  • Thanks @LovelyRitaMeterMaid‌ that's what I'm thinking. I just wasn't sure if being embarrassed could cause this exhaustion. And the rolling eyes was freaky. But everyone does that when falling asleep, right?
I feel like we should have waited with the potty training. This is so heartbreaking. I don't know if being older would have made it easier.
