We were a little shorter than most PPs. Around 3 weeks daytime sessions were 10-15 minutes every 2-3 hours. I was concerned so did a couple weighed feeds to ease my mind even though output was good. There is a huge range of normal!
At 3 weeks she was eating for about 40min (I would unlatch her after 20min on each side) every 1-1.5 hours from start to start during the day. Every 2 hours or so at night.

10-15 minutes every 1.5-2 hours during the day, 3-5 hours during the night. Now, she nurses 5-10 minutes every 2-3 hours during the day, and 10-15 minutes every 4-6 hours in the night.
At 3 weeks PP, we were 10 minutes total, every 2 - 3 hours. LO was always quick and efficient, which was nerve-wracking in the beginning, but became a huge blessing later.
My LO took an hour or hr and 5 minutes until about 11-12 weeks at which point she dropped to 40-45 minutes. By 4 months we were at 30 minutes. This was always about every 2.5 hrs. Now at 8.5 month, were at 15-20 minutes.
Question- this afternoon I breastfed DD for 20 minutes until she unlatched and was fast asleep. 2 hours later she woke up hungry. This time she breastfed 40 minutes, fell asleep but was suckling the whole time and then wanted to eat 2 hours later again. This is what confuses me. She must have gotten more in the 40 minute session, right? When I give her a 4oz bottle, she's very consistent in getting hungry 3-4 hours later. Why would she be just as hungry after a 40 min session compared to a 20 min?
