I woke up at about 630 am thinking I had to pee but I suddenly had the urge to dive out of bed and before I hit the bathroom door my water broke all over the floor.
I woke up DH who had just gone to bed at 5 am because I made him do a lot of laundry; needless to say he was not very happy lol.
I told him to get dressed while I called my doctor to let him know my water broke. So we got top the hospital at about 7 am and they checked to make sure i actually was leaking fluid and not peeing. The Doctor came to check me and I was only 1 cm and about 50 % effaced. They admitted me and my slow upward climb began.
I spent hours just walking around and hanging out with DH watching Tv. I was trying my best to have a med free birth and it seemed like a piece of cake.
At 6 pm my doctor came in and checked me again I was only 2 cm and they wanted me to get in bed so I could be hooked up to the monitors. My daughter was not cooperating so literally every 5 minutes they had to come in and move the monitor to find her. After a few hours they let me off the monitors and I was free to roam the halls again.
I was having some pain and nauseousness
throughout the night so they gave me something to sleep and DH went home to get some rest. He was not too happy seeing me in so much pain and not being able to do anything. Well by 12 am I had enough Dh returned, my night nurse was awful and I couldn't take the contractions; so the doctor checked me again and I was only 3 cm (at this point even the doctor checking me was painful). He asked what my pain level was and when i said 10 he laughed and said "sorry but you're not even in labor yet!" So I kinda lost my cookies lol...
The doctor then suggested I have an epidural since I have such a low pain threshold and he would give me pitocin. I was totally against this all day long but at this point I just wanted her to come out.
So by 1230 am I got the epi and a catheter. Thats when the real roller coaster began..Umm I totally did not know that with a catheter you still feel like you have to go...and that it would feel like my baby was trying to come out of my butt. So I was in and out of sleep all night with the pain driving me insane. At 7 am the evil nurse was headed out the door
and I was so relieved. One of my other doctors showed up with my new nurse and when they checked me I was 5 cm, 75% and they told me she'd be out by the afternoon. We were watching spongebobat 8 am and I felt like someone took a slingshot and hit my vaginal wall with a bowling ball.
For some reason my reaction was look to the right at DH, then to the left...commence the screaming.
My doctor came in and said to try to push a little so I did and he said "ok it's time for Layla to come out!" So everybody got ready and DH tried to compose himself. I started pushing and 5 minutes later my princess was out at 7lbs 2 oz, 19 inches long. I ended up with a 2nd degree tear, 10 stitches and one excrutiating hemorrhoid. She has some jaundice so we had to stay a day more so she could get her tan on....I'm so in love I couldn't stop crying; I never thought I could love someone so much.
