Found a great tool to help get some sleep- long

After having nearly two weeks of no sleep for DH or myself, I had a conversation with my sister, she suggested feeding baby in a different room at night instead of the nursery, that way baby will start to link nursery with sleep, she also mentioned a sleep machine that plays white noise or womb noises.

I wanna shout from the roof top

MY SISTER IS A GENIUS!!

Feeding in the dark in the lounge then putting on the 'womb' music while burping and changing nappy, walking into nursery DD went straight back to sleep in her crib!!
We are now getting a solid 3 hours between feeds of lovely sleep!! It's worked for 3 nights!! Fingers crossed it continues!!

  • It took us a few weeks to realize that he falls asleep faster when we play baby music at bedtime (Baby Mozart and the like).  Simple, yet genius.

  • The white noise in our room also helps me not notice dh's snores or some of the smaller squeaks from LO. Not sure how much it helps her, but I love it for me!

  • Our baby gets the "heartbeat" noise whenever we put him down at night. Since we hear it on the baby monitor, we also fall asleep to the noise.
  • We still use the white noise machine for my toddler, too, and got a new one for the baby.  Definitely the best purchase ever.  That's interesting about not feeding them in the room they sleep in; the baby sleeps fine but my first slept horribly for the whole first year, I wonder if that would have helped.

  • After 9pm, any feedings take place in the living room, but totally in the dark and then I take her to our room for bed. Last night was 3 hour chunks, totally do able! Hoping the trend continues :)

  • My sister took me to BRU when I was pregnant to work on my registry and the first thing we scanned was a "sleep sheep."  She was like, "No question, you will need this."  I took it to the hospital with us and it was so helpful.  I turn it on every time LO goes down for a nap and it works wonders!
  • DS was a colic baby and refused to sleep without some sort of noise. We used the vacuum for a while but were afraid we would ruin it so we finally bought a sound machine. It took two sound machines and two mobiles going at the same time but he finally started sleeping. This LO has had a sound machine from the beginning.

My 5 year old still has his sleep sheep and won't sleep without it. We got the giraffe for DD so they each have their own animals. Best invention ever
