Pregnant after a Loss

This is a question about poo. (Sorry)

Is it possible to be so constipated and, therefore, strain so much when you are trying to poo that you irritate your cervix? Last night I woke up to pee and then had the worst gas and constipation pains. I am certain that the pain was gas related because as soon as I farted and was able to poo I had immediate relief. Side note, I miss pooing every day.

Anyway, I think I noticed some light brown or maybe faint pink discharge when I wiped. That was at 1:00 this morning. I have not had any other issues since. I had a tv u/s last Thursday and am on vaginal progesterone supps so maybe the straining in combo with these two things is the issue? Or maybe I was just seeing things? Or, some alternative option??

Sorry that this got rambly. Any insight ladies?

  • I don't have any insight into whether or not it can irritate your cervix but I am here to offer ((((hugs)))).  That and I'm wondering if it might help to add a little extra fiber to the diet so that you don't have to strain so hard?  Lots of (((hugs))) and hopes that regularity resumes quickly!

  • I remember during my 1st trimester on here someone asking about it and I know their OB said it was a definite possibility. I think with the strain, the suppositories and your u/s that one (or all) is to blame. Of course, you can always call your OB for reassurance but I would just keep an eye on it and chalk it up to pooping issues! Good luck and I hope you don't see anymore spotting!! ((Hugs))

  • Progesterone supps. gave me spotting the entire time I was on them- all that gunk can irritate your cervix. I hate them!

Also, benefiber has been a lifesaver for me.

  • ((HUGS)) I don't have any advice about the spotting, but I do have a suggestion for the constipation- prune juice!  I drink a small cup every morning (I buy the light kind- fewer calories and sugar, plus the taste isn't as harsh) and I have been going every morning since!  (I wasn't even that regular before my BFP.)  If you can't handle it straight, adding a bit of apple juice helps.
  • Thanks ladies!

  • I don't know anything about progesterone supplements but I have heard that the constipation can irritate your bottom although not enough for you to worry about it. That is the root cause of hemorrhoids (you will know if you get these, as they are very painful!) I hope the irritation goes away soon :-)
Married my best friend 7/2/11 - Furbaby born 7/9/11 and brought into our home 9/1/11

I would say between the suppositories and straining/constipation it's very likely the source of the spotting.

It wasn't the color from the suppositories was it? Every once in a while I'll get a light brown/pink/peach color when I wipe, which I'm sure sure is the capsule coating color.

    BFP#4 3/17/14 - rainbow Baby BOY arrived 11/10/14 !!

It may have been the capsule coating color. It's hard to say. It was late/early and I didn't have my glasses on. IDK. I am hesitant to call my OB because it makes me sound crazy and also what if it's bad. I'll cry and dh is OOT.
