Potty training during 1st tri is going to kill me!

I've handled wiping poop off of someone else's but for long enough!  My DD keeps telling me she doesn't want to be a big girl, she loves her diapers.  I wish I could hire someone else to deal with this while I nap.

  • Yes, we're potty training too and although my daughter Loves! to sit on the potty, I can't get her to do anything on it.  She's rather pee the moment the clean diaper hits her.

  • I'm right there with you!  DD was doing great for a while and then just totally regressed for no reason. Now when I ask her "Do you want to go on the potty like a big girl?"  she enthusiastically replies "NOPE!"

  • Eep I start in a few weeks. I was also going to try the 3 day game plan. So I'm glad it worked for you @LupeVallejo‌ that gives me hope!

Potty training is absolutely the most daunting task ever! I also wish I could just hire someone to come over and do it.

  • I'm all for extremes at this point!  I've got plastic to cover all kinds of things, tons of disney princess panties (even though she doesn't know who she'll be shitting on), and we are going to have a naked weekend here soon!  I'm definitely going to check out that book!

  • The best piece of advice I can give you is if your child is telling you they aren't ready or it is a struggle for you then THEY ARENT READY. Save yourself the trouble. DD knew how to use the potty at 18 months but woke up one morning around 2 years old as told me she wanted panties no diapers. She was PT within the weekend. Do not force it.

  • @Manateearmz I really wanted to go that route, but she'll be three in July.  In order to go to the preschool we want her to, she has to be potty trained in August.  I don't want to force the change of going to school while having to figure out the potty situation, so sometime this spring/summer it is!

She has known how to use the potty for over a year now, and has successfully peed and pooped repeatedly.  She just loves her diapers, and doesn't want to stop playing until she feels like it.  Apparently I was the same way, and I only shit my pants every once in a while now.

My baby loves sitting on the potty, but only fully clothed. I'm not in the mood to fight it, though.

  • We are training, too. My DS also loves his diapers. Argh! He has been doing really well, though. I still hate it.

  • Our son is 19 months old and we just bought two car-shaped toilets for him - one for home and one for my mom's, where he is when I'm at work.  She retired after 35 years of working with 18 month - 3 year old kids and potty trained half of our town!  So we are letting her do most of the work and are supporting her efforts.  I'm so happy to have that resource!  ;)

  • I'm hoping to have DD out of diapers by the time the new baby arrives. She will ask to use the potty occasionally but just sits there. Trying not to push it at all yet and just let her do her thing. Luckily her daycare will work on it once she turns 2.

Bahahaha @colliebabe‌ I read Em a potty book to get the wheels working. There is a part where the kid says "I have to go!! Should I go in the potty?" And every time Em goes Noooo. Like don't do it kid, the diaper is great. #-o
Ha ha!  Oh man these little ones are so stubborn.

Yeah DD needs to be trained by this summer in order to attend the preschool day camp (and then she will start preschool in the fall.)  She has had a potty since she was 18 months old and was actually doing so well for a week a month ago, but then regressed.  It's the one area where she is behind.

This made me laugh. My son refuses to sit on his potty any more. He will be just shy of 3yrs old when this little one arrives. I'm hoping to try a version of the three day training this summer. Not looking forward to it!

With my daughter I took away her diapers and gave her panties. I committed about a week to staying home and just catching accidents. At night I had bought a mattress protector, and cleaned her bed if she had an accident. I know this won't work for everyone, and it's kind of extreme. It did work by the end of the week.

This is what we did at 21 mos. don't use pull ups, kids think they are diapers!! We did daytime training and once she learned to hold her pee, she transitioned to nighttime. She felt weird about peeing herself a few days in.

  • We have a couple of the toddler seats you place on top of your toilet. We try to use it every night and no luck thus far. DD is only 15 months, so I'm not pushing it by any means, simply trying to get her use to the seat.

I'm hoping she'll be potty trained by 2 (next January), so I'll be larger than a whale 8 months pregnant OR post baby with a newborn in one arm trying to train DD. I'm sure I'll have lots of kind words to say when that time comes.
