Breastfeeding

I go back to work tomorrow and... I got sick!

I can't believe the timing! I'm going back to work tomorrow and my little one (about 10 weeks) and I got sick!

I'm very congested (feel it in my sinuses and I'm prone to sinus infection) and my throat hurts.

My LO seems a little congested, fussy, and may be throwing up (hard to tell because he spits up a lot in general but it is thicker and smells different now so I'm thinking it's throw up vs spitup)

I've been trying to figure out what I can take but I'm still unsure. Kellymom didn't list any L1 drugs for nasal congestion.

Any recommendations or tips?

According to Kellymom nasal sprays are best but I don't know which.

Thanks!

  • I got a sinus infection a week after returning to work. They prescribed Flonase and an antibiotic. A week later, I felt tons better. Also try neti pot saline to clear out your nose. For LO, the dr can let you know what's going on but saline in the nose, booger sucker, humidifier etc.

  • When I'm sick all I "take" are tea with honey and chicken broth/soup.  I've never had any of the OTC cold medicines do anything for me, so I don't bother.

  • Thanks girls!

Did getting sick hurt your supply? Usually in the morning I pump 8-10 ounces and this morning I only got 6. :(

  • getting sick can make your supply drop. try to rest as much as you can and make sure you are drinking lots. i would go for lots of tea and chicken broth as PP said.
  • Thank you thank you!

That's what i'm worried about... drop in milk supply from being sick and the potential drops from LO beginning to sleep 6-7 hour stretches and going to work... crossing my fingers and guzzling water!!
