Question for formula feeders..

Hi ladies, stopping by from May '14 with a question.. DD2 is one week old (born at 37w2d) and most of the May mamas haven't had their babies yet, so I figured I would check here. I EBF her for the first 4 days, but she had a significant weight loss and severe jaundice so I switched to formula. How much formula is your LO taking and how often?

She is taking 2 oz every 2-3 hours, but sometimes she is really fussy and acts hungry after 1.5 hours and sucks down another 2 oz. I don't know if I should increase her bottles to 3 oz, or keep it the same? It just seems like a lot. I also don't know if it's just a fussy time and I don't want to over feed her. Thoughts? I know with DD1 I always offered slightly more than she would drink, but I can't remember what I did when she was so tiny. Thanks!

    I was just wondering this same thing, but mine is only 4 days old.. My DS take 2 oz every 3 hours but last night and today he has started fussing at 2 hours, We go to the pediatrician tomorrow I am also wondering if I should try a different bottle.

    Same as snmetz7. I thought I was overfeeding my little piglet (she will sometimes take 2oz but then still do all the hungry cues so i give her 2 more) but Pedi said if she is not spitting up then she is doing just fine!

    My LO is 3 weeks old & take 3-4 oz every 2-3 hours. When she was a week old she took 2-3 oz every 2-3 hrs. We increased it as she showed signs of being hungry more frequently.

    I was doing the same thing as yourself and my DD would cry for hours only to fund out she wanted more food. Now she eats 4oz. every 3-4 hours. The other morning she had 6oz.

    Thanks for your help! I will try increasing her bottles and see how she does.
