Cycle day 20 and no lh surge

First I would like to mention that my cycles are sometimes a perfect 28 days and sometimes they are more like 40+ days. I'm currently one cycle day 20 and still have not gotten a positive opk. This is my second month on clomid. I ovulated around cycle day 18 last cycle. I was not monitored this month on clomid because my husband and I were traveling (together) around what we thought would be my mid cycle. I did have ewcm around cycle day 15, but I would consider myself to be dry now. Could I have missed my ovulation? Also I only have 2 strips left in my "first response daily digital ovulation test," what happens when I finish the last two strips? Should I buy another one to pick up where I left off?

Sorry you haven't gotten your OPK+ yet this cycle! That is always so stressful. Have you had long cycles when on Clomid? If so, a 40 day cycle would almost certainly have O sometime after CD22. It's definitely possible to miss O when testing, especially once a day. (I've found that I often don't get a true positive before O, so I count an almost + as + and my temps show it is true.)

Never tried that OPK brand. If it gets pricy and you find yourself having to test a lot (I definitely do - have O'd between CD14 and CD21 so I start testing on CD13 and usually go to CD17), maybe check out Wondfo tests? I order large amounts at a time on Amazon and it's really cheap. They make me feel better about testing 2x/day if I need to. Good luck! Hopefully that EWCM was it and you had great timing and this was your month. Or if not, then the OPK+ is right around the corner!

I would keep on testing. My cycle lengths vary a lot too, even when on the same dose of the same med, and I usually don't O until well after CDay20. I second the Wondfos - they are cheap enough to be able to test as often as you like.

Thanks for the responses. I'm new to posting, but from what I have been reading it seems like everyone is very helpful and supportive on this board! It's nice to have a place to find out info, especially since not many people know my struggles with ttc. I'm going to order the wondfos for next cycle. Since I'm almost out of strips, I may just pick up a cheap test from the drug store to continue testing for this cycle. Im not sure what's more frustrating...having a faulty $50 test or not ovulating yet

I think you should be talking to your doctor about this. They might want you to come in to see what's going on. Even if they don't want to see you, I'd probably insist on it because it's a bad idea to take Clomid without being monitored. As for next cycle, you shouldn't really need to use OPKs if you're being monitored properly. Good luck!

I would *never* take Clomid without being monitored. There are so many things that could go wrong.

Are you back from traveling now? Maybe you an start monitoring now. I didn't O until CD 26 on Clomid last cycle, so it's possible to ovulate late. However, I wasn't responding to my initial dose, so my dose was increased later in my cycle, do this was to be expected. However, the only way I knew that was through proper monitoring, otherwise I probably never would have ovulated.
