Yeast ?

DD has had yeasty diaper rash for a month while I have been on antibiotics post-surgery. It starts to get better but then relapses. We have tried Nystatin, Gentian Violet, yogurt on bum, etc. what is the Rx yeast cream that is recommended when Nystatin isn't cutting it?

I don't know about cream but I think they do oral Diflucan(?) next.

Eta: Sorry, that probably doesn't help with the diaper rash.

  • Diflucan is what I couldn't remember. Thanks! We have done the monistat, monistat mixed with hydrocortisone cream and a&d in top... Just stubborn yeast... And I have to go back on antibiotics now too... She does get probiotics so that helps too...

  • Diflucan is oral. Works better than nystatin.

  • Every diaper change and it never went fully away to keep going for 7 days... Very frustrating. Calling doc in a.m. since everything else isn't working...

  • The thing that worked best was the gentian violet, got it about 80% there and then stopped. The nystatin - not even worth it, did nothing but leave her raw!

  • Cornstarch! My nephew had an awful one from antibiotics and tried everything and cornstarch was what finally worked for it!

Thanks ladies. Same diapers, cornstarch is in use and rash cream tried. Not sure why this yeast is so damn stubborn this time. Docs office open in 3 hours so a call will definitely be placed! We use Honest Co diapers (she pees through pampers in an hour and gets a rash from Huggies) and homemade wipes (paper towel wipes) since this started. Both my kids and very sensitive skin so it's no fun...
