Lupron shot in the leg?

I did not take Lupron to TTC #1, but my RE changed my protocol and I will be taking it to TTC #2.

The nurse told me they advise patients to administer the Lupron shot in the leg. I am so scared to do this! Belly shots suck, yeah, but I would much rather do that than in the leg! Isn't the leg more sensitive?

Did you do any shots in your leg? How was Lupron, any side effects or injection site issues?

    Don't do it your leg. There's no reason for it, and it's 100% more annoying than in the belly. I did exactly 1 shot in my leg, and a bunch of it oozed out when I took out the needle, it was just dumb. 


    Are you doing a Lupron trigger?

    Not to knock your protocol, and I've only done 5 starting my 6th cycle w Lupron, but I've never heard of it in leg! Stomach is how I normally do it and back of arm administered by anyone but me is my preferred. After hearing mrscastillo's story, I'm going to have nightmares...!

    My RE's nurse suggested the leg as an option too, and I tried it once, and OMG it hurt so much worse than the stomach.

    I did every shot after that in the stomach.

    TTC #1 since 2007. Dx: Unexplained infertility. 4 IUIs in 2008 = BFN. IVF #1 07/09. DD #1 born April 2010 (40w5d).
    TTC #2 since 2011. Dx: Endometriosis and hypothyroidism. 2 FETs in 2012, BFP 6/12 but m/c @ 7 weeks. IVF #2 06/13. DD #2  born March 2014 (40w1d).

    Thanks everyone. I guess I will try the leg once, but good to know I can always just do them in my stomach.

    If this cycle doesn't work though, I know I'm going to be irrationally blaming this ("I'm sure I would be pregnant if only I did the Lupron in my leg instead of my belly").

    If it makes you feel any better, my dd came from the first cycle I started doing them in stomach only (fresh and FET before that was back of arm). :)

    I did all the Lupron shots in my thighs, alternating legs, for all 4 cycles I have been through.  I never had a problem.  The insulin size needles are small - and I am squeamish about needles.  Good luck!

    Yikes, back of the arm?! I can't even visualize how that is physically possible.

    Yikes, back of the arm?! I can't even visualize how that is physically possible.
    LOL!!! Hubs did them all. He felt bad he wasn't involved at all. Then our schedules changed for the third cycle when I started the shots in the stomach and took over. :)
