LO only used it for naps and sleep. We kicked it to the curb when we let her CIO (for her was 5 minutes of fussing/crying). She would take the paci and then stand up when I walked out so the choice was keep going in or let her do her thing. So it was an aside to 'sleep training'.
3 ectopic pregnancies (EDD's 1/30/12-tube removed, 6/2/12-methotrexate and 10/2/12-methotrexate)
IVF and Natural FET resulted in BFN's and a hole in our wallets
Natural BFP #4 on 9/7/12 gave us our miracle on 5/18/13
I give it to her for naps/bedtime and car rides, but H gives it to her whenever he wants to. I try to explain that it so be more difficult to wean her around 1year because she's used to him giving it to her. I'm hoping he'll start to listen.
When I asked H when he wants to get rid of the paci he said never. He said she loves it why take it away...oh dear.
I admit I let DD1 have her Binky until she was 2.. When I finally said enough is enough I cut the tips of the paci so there was no more suction. She let them Go pretty easy once she realized they don't suck anymore. DD2 uses her her paci for bed and naps, occaisionally if she is fussy I will give it to her. I don't really have a plan to stop yet.. I'll play it by ear.
I was a paci addict. At 2.5 my mom cut all the tips. I threw a dramatic fit and moved on.I'm ok with C having the paci for now. I will revisit this post in a year.
I took DS1's away at 9 months when we sleep trained, but that was because he still couldn't get it in his mouth himself. DS2 had no trouble with that, so he had his until 2.5. From maybe 18 mos though, he only had it in his crib. DS3 is like DS2, totally addicted. So I will probably follow the same plan. I'm not going to change anything until after a long trip we are taking in July though!
