Tummy trouble advice.

So the tummy bug that had Thoren on Tuesday, made a resurgence, and yesterday/last night was bad. 5 diapers, and he threw up twice (in bed, most terrifying thing i have ever experienced was waking up realizing that my son was choking in the next room, i've never seen my husband move that fast, we all cried). So today i have kept him on clear liquids only and stuck more or less to a BRAT type diet. Applesauce, banana, crackers etc. And a bunch of water and pedialyte. But i know he is hungry. He keeps trying to take food, and i will admit to having given in on a few noodles because i felt awful. He hasn't had a diaper or throwing up episode since this morning. How long would you wait to start introducing more complex solids and pediasure/milk? I tried to call his doctor, but the office has apparently recently ended their weekend hours. I could scream. If he had, had one more episode i would have taken him to urgent care, but he has been diarrhea and vomit free for about 12 hours now. He kept down about 16 ounces of pedialyte, 10 of water, about 9 ounces of apple sauce, 4.5 ounces of banana, and 10 crackers, plus a couple plain egg noodles.

Sorry for being THAT mom, but google isn't helping tonight, and our office doesn't even have a flipping nurse line. I hate this place so much...

Re: Tummy trouble advice.

  • Sorry Thoren isn't feeling well. Babies barfing in their beds is my worst experience as well. So scary. I would say at 12 hours barf/diarrhea free I would try something a bit more. Maybe some toast with peanut butter. And I'm sorry you hate your area so much, that must be so frustrating. Hugs momma.....you're doing a great job!

  • When our little guy had he flu back in march we started to give him more bland foods after he kept things down for about 12 hours. Peanut butter and toast wouldn't be a bad option. We did dry Cheerios and goldfish crackers too. We stayed away from all dairy for almost 48 hours before I reintroduced milk to him. Hope he feels better, it sounds like he is on the mend so try to relax yourself too.
