Eye color

Does anyone else find it hard to tell LO's eye colour? My son is 3 weeks. His eyes are kind of a dark grey color but I can't tell if they will end up brown (like big brother and daddy) or blue (like me). When does their eye color become obvious? I'm attaching a pic in case anyone wants to zoom in and look at the color!

I would be shocked (and thrilled) if he got my blue eyes! I inherited mine from my grandfather and everyone else on both sides has brown eyes, which I know is dominant!

Today, to quote Buttercup in The Princess Bride, I believe his eyes are best described as "eyes like the sea before a storm."

All 3 kids were born with the "newborn grey/blue" eyes. Both DH and I have brown eyes and our older two have hazel eyes and they actually change based on light or what they are wearing. Their eye color set in between 6 and 9 months.

Thanks guys! Guess I'll hold off on buying a blue wardrobe just to bring out his eyes. Lol

C's eyes are BRIGHT blue, and we really hope they stay that way! I have blue eyes, and H has green eyes (with a few family members with blue eyes), so we have enough recessive genes to make it happen :-)

I too am hoping DD2 has blue eyes but they'll probably be brown like her dads. My DD1 started out as gray and are dark brown now.

I have been wondering the same thing. I have a 4 yr old daughter and 2 wk old son. I still struggle to identify my daughters eye color. They look exactly like your LO's. Hers aren't brown, but they aren't bright blue either. My son is similar but I have a feeling his are going to turn brown.

My baby girl has the deep grey/blue eyes right now (6 days old), and that's how I was when I was born. Mine are now mostly brown with a bit of green, just like my husband's. No one in his immediate family has brown eyes, and the closest person he could've gotten them from was his paternal grandma. If it can happen to him, I hope it can happen to her! I would love it if she had green eyes.

Everyone in my family has brown eyes. My husband has green eyes. DS was born with blue and I always thought they would change. He is 2 now and they are still bright blue. DD also has blue eyes. I'm curious to see if she will keep hers as well. They also both have red hair. I read that red hair and blue eyes are the rarest minority in the world.

I was blonde & blue on my 2nd birthday. I now have pretty much the darkest brown hair I've ever seen, and hazel eyes that lean towards brown. I'm not placing bets on the results with my LOs until they're 3.

He might very well get your blue eyes. It's still hard to tell right now. He is adorable no matter what color eyes he has!!
