Is it safe to eat raw cookie dough?

I made chocolate chip cookies the other night and without thinking about it, I ate a spoonful of the raw dough just like I've always done my whole life. Then I realized Wait! I'm pregnant! Is it safe to eat it? I don't feel any different than I've felt before so I don't think I did any harm, but you never know. So is cookie dough safe to eat?

From what I read, you will be fine. It does suggest not to do that, but to make an oopsy like you did should not harm anything. I mean, think about it this way, most people don't know they are pregnant and drink like normal until they find out. You should be perfectly fine. I hope this helps your nerves.

You will probably be OK, but no it's probably not the best decision since raw eggs in it carry a risk of salmonella ....technically that means it's probably never the greatest idea (though I know people do it all the time and generally they're okay despite the risk), but especially while pregnant I would avoid it.

I don't think it's safe to eat raw cookie dough ever. But I've certainly done it before. Just avoid it going forward.

This! You aren't supposed to eat any dough with raw eggs in it. I have my whole life though and I didn't feel guilty licking the bowl when I made brownies tonight.
