Hi All,
What is the average weight for a 4 month old boy? My son is about 14.5 pounds and his birth weight was 8lbs and 1 oz. I am worried that he is not gaining enough weight. I hear that at his age, he should have doubled his birth weight.
I was told at 6 months they double their birth weight. If he has or will have a 4 month check up that would be a good time to bring it up if you're concerned.
We are 5 months here and have not yet doubled birth weight. As long as LO is hitting milestones and meeting eating/diaper goals and not seeming to lose weight, I bet LO is doing just fine. My 5 month old is only 11.5 lbs.
We have an appointment with the pediatrician tomorrow, as our family doctor was concerned that DS has fallen off his curve. He's 11 lb 11oz as of last week (4mo), but hitting all milestones, very active, happy, good diapers, etc. I'm hopeful that DS has just inherited DH'S metabolism.
My LO was 5.10 at birth and 14.11 at his 4 month. Our pedi had us make his formula more concentrated to make him gain and catch up from his low birth weight.

Henry was only 13 lbs at his 4 mos appointment and that was 10 days after he actually turned 4 months. He's only 8th percentile which worries me since he's 75th for height. But the doctor wasn't too concerned, she just encouraged us not to wean the night feedings yet.
Ben was only 14lbs at his 4 month check up. He actually went up in %iles from his 2 month check up. I doubt you have anything to worry about weight wise. Most babies will double their birthweight by 4 months but some take up to 6 months and that's totally normal too.
Ellie was 6 15 at birth and 16 5 at 4 months. 80th percentile in weight and 15th in length. They would've been concerned that's she's too chunky if she wasn't EBF.

Mine is the same and the doc wasn't concerned at all. He's on the same growth curve for a long and lean baby.
So I don't think the nurse at my pedi office knows how to calculate percentiles. She told us Aamina is in the 97th percentile, she was 12# 12 Oz at her 4 month appt.

There are charts online and calculators, that isn't right according to what I was told.
my Lo is 17 pounds and 26 inches.. little chunky..but only drinks 5 onz every 2 hours almost 3..
Have you started solids yet? We're the same size, a little longer, and drink the same amount which ends up being more than 30oz. We just decided to try and start solids, but I'm curious if anybody else has.
