April 2014 Moms

Things to celebrate!

My DH is golfing today, so it's one of the first days I'm on my own with LO since my mom returned home this weekend. Let's all chime in, whether you have an inside/outside baby, to celebrate our daily victories (no matter how small or large):

1. I showered AND brushed my teeth before 11 am

2. I managed to wash dishes and do a load of laundry while LO napped.

3. I gave LO her first actual bath (which she hated).

Success! Now if I can squeeze in a walk and nap myself, I'll be golden. :-)

  • Loading the player...
  • I've also mastered the side-lying position with DS. It makes night-feedings so much easier and more relaxing.

Plus I've driven twice now and started planning outings!

  • My husband and I went to the grocery store this morning with baby and I managed to walk around for half an hour! Feels like enormous progress after two weeks stuck on the couch because of my stupid stitches.

  • I cooked for the first time since having the baby, made a chicken rice soup with enough to freeze.

Got the baby back on the boob, so far haven't used any bottles today and I'm considering returning the pump and not renting another month

I managed to go to both church services today :) And didn't snap at any of the multiple comments on my not having had this baby yet (due tomorrow).

  • I showered and could almost bend enough to wash my lower legs. I made crockpot chili for dinner. I've got six feedings worth of breast milk in my fridge and am about to undergo today's power pump in an hour. And I finally got the courage to peel off my SteriStrips and look at my C-section scar.

Also, LO is fed, changed, and still alive. Job well done, I'd say ;)

We took LO to whole foods and wore her successfully. She didn't fuss or cry like she does in the stroller. Win!

I am spending some baby free time reading a book all by myself.

Mom took me out to dinner last night just me and her. :)

  • I managed to squeeze in that nap and walk = my day was awesome!!

Now, let's see if I can manage to feed LO while catching Game of Thrones and then having her set for bed by 10 pm. That would be a true miracle.
  • A ridiculous blow-out last night (you could see the poo come flying out of the diaper) finally convinced DH that I was right and trifolding prefolds is not super effective for newborns, and today he finally started angel folding them!  Now I don't have to worry about getting pooped on after he does a diaper change!

  • 2 days till due date and I went on a long walk with DH, bought a baby book for the first year, went grocery shopping, roasted a chicken/veggies, organized the fridge and made homemade mint lemonade. Now relaxing and about to enjoy a movie and cake!

I made chex mix, pumpkin bread and made dinner. I also did 5 loads of laundry, which is all put away! Also ran the dishwasher and emptied it! (DH then proceeded to ask if i had washed the sheets and towel too! No buddy, I didn't get to those today, but I did wash ALL your clothes!)
    Now I want chex mix!
