i need crib advice

We moved dd's crib into our room about 3 months ago. Transitioning to the crib wasn't bad, within a few days she was OK sleeping in there. Recently, she hates her crib. The second we start to lean in to put her down, she starts screaming. She loves soft fluffy surfaces and to cuddle up in blankets. Obviously, crib mattresses aren't soft or fluffy and blankets at this age aren't safe so I don't know what to do. I want my bed back! Any suggestions?

LO loathes his firm crib mattress too.
I wish I had just gotten the cheap mattress that is on the softer side rather than the $240 rock we bought.
I'm looking forward to seeing if anyone has suggestions. I kinda want my bed back too...

@deedee1017‌ I don't know if your crib mattress is the same but ours has a newborn side (hardest) and toddler side (a little softer)
The toddler side is still hard as a rock on ours but maybe you can flip yours and see if it helps?

@elllaf OK so, maybe it's me (very likely) but I don't see much of a difference between the sides even though it was advertised as having one side for baby and one for toddler. This is dd's preference:

So this started happening to us too... She used to pass out while nursing and after some gentle rocking, the transition to the crib was fairly easy and she was out til morning. A few weeks ago it was like a switch flipped and she would seem like she was out, but the second I lowered her in to the crib she would scream. It was bizarre... Totally out and then it's like she could sense the elevation change (or the feeling of falling not sure). We always knew that nursing to sleep was not going to be the LT solution and she would need to learn to fall asleep on her own. So we've been working on putting her to bed semi-awake and letting her soothe herself to sleep. Not sure what your bedtime routine looks like but maybe this would help?

The fifth month nightmare that I went through included this response to his crib as well. Partly it was that he was teething, and the other was to figure out the drowsy but awake bedtime. And cementing a bedtime routine for him.

What does your bedtime routine look like right now?

Falling asleep isn't really the issue its her sleeping in her crib that's really the issue. Usually we eat, she plays and then lays with me or daddy and falls asleep.

When she's asleep no but if she's not sleeping when I put her down it's instant party time. At least that's how its been for naps. I haven't tried at night. However at daycare they say they put her down and tap her back and she falls asleep. Is it me/us?

I think @wedding06 may have hit the nail on the head... if she is used to sleeping with you, then you may have to find a way to get her to be fine with putting her in the crib drowsy but awake.

It is not easy deedee1017. You know I almost lost my mind when we had sleeping issues with E.

But it is so worth it to be able to put your baby to sleep and then have time to yourself to relax or get stuff done.

I had to be really strict in implementing the bath, massage, boob and book bedtime routine, in his room, in order to get him to be cool with sleeping in his crib.

Relatively new... Tonight has been the suckiest of suckiest bedtime attempts. I have no clue what happened. I used to be able to lay her down n she would look around quietly and fall asleep. Currently, as in 5 min ago, she freaked out so bad I thought she was going to do a backflip into the rail.
So DH walks in and asked what was going on...

When mine started doing this a few weeks ago is when I started putting him down on his belly to sleep. The first few nights, he cried for about 4 minutes when I put him down, but I just stood there and patted his back and he eventually put his head down and went to sleep. Now he doesn't even open his eyes, just flops over and keeps on snoozing. Disclaimer: I am aware we're still 'supposed' to be putting them to sleep on their backs, but he's rolled to his belly on his own for quite some time and slept that way with no problem.

@sleepy33‌ I think did would sleep well on her belly, she does for naps, but I'm so nervous about it. She rolls over on her belly all the time now but never in her sleep so I'm still weary. Daycare puts her on her belly for naps all the time. Honestly, I think she prefers her belly.

Yeah, it's hard, you gotta do what you feel comfortable with. You might consider a Snuza if she sleeps well on her belly and you're nervous about it.

You know, I got some at my shower and thought, that cant feel good if it's not the ideal temperature in the house, but I wish I would have at least kept one set. That's a good idea.
