almost a year pp and not one pound lost...

I'm really depressed about the fact that I weight exactly the same amount I weighed after giving birth which also equals my end of pregnancy weight minus dd's birth weight. Ive spent the entire time either trying to control my appetite and/or trying to find time to get in the gym and do what I could to lose the weight but absolutely no results. Ive breastfed and supplemented occasionally with formula but not even breastfeeding helped, it just made me hungrier. I can't believe I'm so overweight. My entire pregnancy I had trouble gaining to the point where I barely looked pregnant until the end and now I can't even lose it no matter what I do. Its wearing on my self confidence especially since I'm a single parent who would really like to start dating again and to feel comfortable in my old clothes which are all super cute. I'm near considering hydroxycut or something

  • I am with you! I unfortunately lost the weight and then gained it back though. I know it is my own fault and I need to buckle down and start running again. I am just exhausted from chasing LO all day. Just remember we all need to give ourselves a break. Yes it has been a year but our bodies may take longer to bounce back. Plus we all made some really cute babies!

  • I've read on the BF Forum that some women don't lose the weight until after they wean. GL!

  • Welp, I gained 25 lbs while pregnant. Lost it all almost immediately. Gained 12 back after quitting breastfeeding.

  • I had trouble losing weight after my first baby. I gained 44lb plus 20lb going through IF treatments. I was one of those people who instantly lost 8lb when I weaned then I immediately got pregnant again.

  • I was overweight to begin with, and went back to my pre-pregnancy weight pretty much right after birth, I think I only gained baby and pregnancy related weight (fluid, placenta, etc), but I'm still overweight and exactly the weight I was within a few days of delivery.  I EBF (plus solids at 6 months) and that has done nothing to burn calories, because I just eat more. It burns 500 calories a day, but I replace that easily and have made no attempt to reduce calories because I didn't want it to effect my supply.

  • Don't be so hard on yourself. Take it from someone who has struggled with weight her whole life - tomorrow is a new day for a fresh start.

Have you tried weight watchers? I've been successful with it over the last few months and have lost the baby weight - without exercising at all. I'm just now starting to go to the gym. Their new program simple start is great - no counting points, measuring or weighing. It makes it a bit easier and a bit less time consuming.

  • @mommatotwo2 I feel the same way! Sometimes I think I overcompensate because I am so worried it will affect my supply. I am hoping when he turns one, we can find some happy balance between continuing to nurse on a limited basis and me starting to limit my caloric intake. Sometimes I feel like I have a tapeworm!

  • @JoJo716, I'm right there with you! We're so close now, just a little longer :) My supply has never been super, it's always been just barely enough, and now that my always tiny freezer stash is completely gone, I just can't risk it!

  • I never lost weight until I weaned. I weaned DS1 at 5 months and weighed less when I got pregnant with DS2 than DS1...although not to my pre-loss weight. I've been on a massive diet since New Years and although my weight was down it didn't really start going down until I weaned in February/March. I would like to weigh what I did before my ectopic surgery when all is said and done. So still about 30lbs (15 was from the loss).
