Baby video monitors

Does anyone have a good baby monitor that they would recommend?  I asked about the iPhone app cameras last week, but I'm not sure we want to go that way.  Our monitor loses signal very easily.  We have a Mortorola and I just purchased a Summer Infant monitor and have the same problem.  We have a larger house, but I would think that there is a monitor out there that could work in our house, or to our porch.

  • Thanks.  I should have mentioned that we like the video monitors!

  • The Summer Infant monitor we have works on the same frequency as our wifi, so if I'm using the computer or my phone near it, the signal can go out sometimes. Is that what's happening with yours?

  • Which Motorola do you have?  We have a larger home too, 3500 sq ft and have had no problems with the quality anywhere in our house, out by our pool.  Our neighbors have the same model and  bring their monitor over here and don't have any issues either. Maybe try a different Motorola model?
  • Random tip, but we found that if I leave my cell phone next to the monitor, it interferes with the signal.

    We have MBP41 https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=19131106&cp=&parentPage=search

Our neighbor brings her old Summer Infant model to our house and doesn't lose signal.  They don't make the one that she has anymore, so we tried a newer one and it didn't work.  Which Motorola do you have?

Our computer is directly under DD's room, but it goes out if we aren't on the computer.

  • We have this monitor. I have never had an issue with range; it makes it to the edge of our property and works fine when he is sleep in my grandma's house and we are outside in the backyard.

I looked at that one on amazon but decided to go with the Summer Infant one. Maybe I'll try this one next.

I have the motorola MBP43-2 and have no issues with distance as long as I put the antenna up when I go outside

Hmm, this one says it works up to 590'. Mine says it works up to 600' (but that's definitely not the case for us).

I believe it is this one.  Its been great.  https://www.amazon.com/Motorola-MBP36-Wireless-3-5-Inch-Infrared/dp/B004VL2VRO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1398354822&sr=8-1&keywords=motorola+baby+monitor
  • We have this one. We love it so far. We have a condo so not sure how it does with range, but it's super clear and we can also talk through it to her if we choose to.

I would call and complain to motorola- We had a bad battery in our unit and they shipped us a whole new unit for free (and a prepaid sticker to mail the bad one back)

I actually did that once already. They sent us a new one but it isn't any better.

We were looking at that one too. I think we'll order a couple from amazon and see what works.
