Concerned about first beta value...help! UPDATE!!!

Hi Ladies! So I got a faintly positive pregnancy result using FRER, and confirmed it using a Clearblue Digital Monday morning. I went in that afternoon for my first beta draw and just found out that the result of that draw was 18. It was my understanding that the POAS tests measured hcg over 25, so does that mean my hcg level dropped by lunchtime? Or could it be subject to some noise? I'm so confused and won't have an answer until Thursday as to what is going on. My next draw is tomorrow around lunch.

UPDATE!!! My second beta value came back at 70, meaning a doubling time of 24 hours!!! I know it's early but I'm feeling very hopeful and optimistic about this pregnancy :-) Thank you for your support!

I got a positive digital HPT the same day I had a beta of 10! Yes, 10! So far, everything is going well. It doesn't matter what the beta value is as long as they are doubling! Good luck

Some tests are more sensitive, when I hit a BFP with a FRER and went for a blood test that day it came back at 15 (10DPO), three days later I was up to 88. I wouldn't be concerned about the starting number (esp if it's early), it's the doubling that counts .

FRERs can register a faint positive with all little as just over 6 miu of HcG. If you were using the Clear Blue digi with the weeks estimator, that test can register a positive at 10 miu, according to this FDA link. You've gotta start somewhere! What matters is that your number goes up, like PP have said.

I got a really faint positive with a FRER at 9dpo (a super-squinter). I had my betas tested at 10dpo and they came back at 22. I was nervous, too, but you have to remember that the most important thing is that the number doubles in 48 hours. My second draw came back at 75, next 283 and it just kept going up and up. FX for great doubling numbers tomorrow. (((HUGS)))!!!

Oh my goodness, thank you for your input! I am so relieved to hear that these POAS tests can actually register hcg values lower than 25. I was on the verge of freaking out :-) I feel as if I can relax again...only time will tell what will happen (but it's ridiculously hard to be patient when you're waiting for your rainbow to come!).

Update: I caved and peed on another stick, and to my delight, the line was much darker than yesterday :-) Thank you all for easing my fears - I'll update you with my second beta on Thursday!

Glad to hear the line is getting darker!! After my m/c I POAS to see if I would get a negative test and it was ever so faintly positive. I had a blood draw the very next day and it was 9, so I'm assuming it wasn't much higher when I got my positive. The fact that the stick got darker today is a good sign! Some of those tests are so sensitive!

BookishMomma Thanks for posting the FDA link - that was super informative and I had no idea that pregnancy tests were consistently that sensitive! I'm a scientist by trade and my fears have definitely eased now that I have proper knowledge :-)

Thank you ladies!! I am probably around 4w6d now. I took my last FRER yesterday and the test line was quite a bit darker than the control line, so that was very reassuring! My OB won't do any betas beyond one set because she believes it's too much stress, so POAS is all I have right now :-)

I have my first ultrasound scheduled for this Friday - and long as we see a sac, I'll be starting Lovenox. I'll be pushing for an ultrasound for about a week/week and a half later if all looks good so that I can rest comfortably knowing I made it past my previous two loss milestones. This wait is so hard but I so optimistic that everything will work out this time...I'll keep you updated! Thank you for your encouragement and support!
