When will you move/did you move baby to their own room?

For those that have or have had baby in your bedroom, when did you or do you plan to move them to their own room?

DS is 6 weeks old and I am breastfeeding. Was thinking of moving him this weekend but majorly dreading it and having second thoughts.

Re: When will you move/did you move baby to their own room?

  • We plan on moving them by 3 months for sure, but you never know!

  • I plan on moving LO out at 5-6 months old. That's when we moved DS1 and it worked well with him.

  • We have to move out of our house for 2-3 months while it gets remodeled, when we move back in, she'll be sharing a room with her sister.

  • We moved dd when she was sleeping through the night, so around 3-4 months. I figured as long as I was having to get up overnight, I would like to have her closeby.

  • We planned on keeping them in our bedroom when we came home but I couldn't get in and out of our master bed after my c section so they went in the nursery right away and I sleep on a futon in the nursery. I plan on sleeping in the nursery until they sleep in at least one 5 hour block.

  • Either when she gets up just once overnight or when she doesn't fit in the cradle. With DD1 she outgrew the cradle first.

I will probably move her around 4-5 mos. That's what we did with our first.

  • We're planning to move her at 2 mos old. Our pediatrician recommended that age as that's when they start to form habits. We'll see if it actually happens that way!
  • My girl is 4 weeks old and moving her into her own room feels like quite a ways away. We don't have any age or timeframe in mind, I think we'll just play it by ear. By 6 months old at the latest, but probably sooner I'm guessing.
  • We have a king-sized pull out bed in the nursery, so DH and I slept in there until DS1 started STTN around 2 months. DS2 will be sharing a room with DS1, so we'll probably move him out of our room when he starts STTN too so he doesn't wake up DS1.
  • I honestly have no idea. Currently, I have my 2 year old on one side of our room and my 2 week old on the other.

  • Around 3 months old is when we moved our DD last time. We will be trying that again.

  • Between 3-4 months. That's what we did with DD1 and it worked well.
  • Probably 3 months, as long as she's sleeping long enough to justify it. I don't want to get up and go to another room more than once or twice through the night.
  • He's been sleeping in the nursery since we brought him home.  We don't physically have room for him in our bedroom (small british rooms with big american furniture!)...not even a bassinet or RNP.  Plus there's nowhere to nurse in the bedroom.   So he sleeps in the nursery, and we use a monitor.

  • We also started out day one in his own room. It's easier to get up and nurse in my glider chair with a boppy than in our bed at night anyway, and at least one parent still gets to sleep while the other changes, etc.
  • I've just today begun laying her in her crib in the nursery during a nap and watching the monitor. It feels weird for her to be in another room but I'm trying to acclimate her to the crib a little at a time. She's now 2 1/2 weeks. I think I will move her there for overnight around 3 months. Until then, it's RNP at bedside.
