leaving LO for a trip out of town...advice with airlines and pumping

I am going out of town for 4 days and need some advice.  I will be bringing my pump with me but am unsure what to do about the milk I pump while I'm gone.  I EBF so I'm sure I'll get at least 24 ounces a day.  As we all know it is like liquid gold and I CANNOT just dump it.  Is there a way I can bring it back on the airlines?  Is there a way to "mail" it home with dry ice or something?  I live in Michigan and will be going to Vegas so it isn't like it will be a trip whether I ship or take it with me.  Anyone have any advice?  I sure would appreciate it!  Thanks so much!

  • Agree with PP. I've done this twice already. I used the hard igloo blue ice packs instead of actual ice, but I did have access to a freezer. I you dont, Most hotels offer a mini fridge for a few bucks a night, and just keep it packed with ice.

  • In addition to PP, you can bring your pump on board as an additional carry on because it is a medical device. Personally, I'd hate to check my pump and have it lost or damaged!! If you must pump on the plane, try using a manual pump instead of electric.
