Next summer is our ten year anniversary and also a huge perk from my company- I become eligible for a two month sabbatical.
DH and I want to go on an African Safari. We would be gone 10 days.
One of dd's daycare teachers said she would nanny while we are away and the grandparents could come by as well to supprt her and keep DD company.
I can push out my sabbatical up to three years when DD would be nearly five and perhaps more easily traveled with, but with the current business climate and recurring head count reductions, I'm feeling like this is a use it or lose it opportunity.
I'll miss DD terribly I wonder if I'll be able to enjoy the trip. DD will miss us.
Would you leave your two year old for 10 days under these circumstances?

Thanks everybody. DH and I decided to go for it!
I would probably do a shorter trip or two with DH that isn't so far away and then take another with my kids during that time. That is just my personality though, so I say do whatever will make you happy. It will not harm your child if you leave them in the care of someone who you trust.
