Penis and scrotum here. "Peach" is pretty sexual slang where I come from, so we'd go with vagina or vulva if I had a daughter.
His gluteus maximus has more names, though - bottom, booty, and bum. I'll probably drop "booty" soon. It was just funny when he was littler, because he had a big ol' baby booty and sometimes his pants wouldn't fit because of it lol
I'm interested in the responses. The few times DS has um, discovered himself I usually just say "Yup that's your pee pee." He's so little now I figure it's fine. I will probably say penis when he gets a little older.
Penis. I haven't dealt with girly parts yet with just my boy, but when he asks I will tell him it's a vagina. It's such a weird cultural thing to me. We don't make up names for arms and legs, yet we do for those areas. At the core, I understand why, but I came from a really uptight (human sexuality wise), body shaming Irish Catholic upbringing, so I am really conscious about just being up front about it all with DS.
We will just be calling them by their real names, penis and vagina. I agree with Dubs that making up different names for them seems weird to me. I think it's important that they know what they are called.

We aren't very scientific, not because I don't want to be, but because my daughter has no filter and will say anything. She told our Priest once that she feel and hurt her vagina at Communion at church... So we have stopped that one for a bit! I was so embarrassed!
We call boys a peter, peepee, and peeny. We call girls girly bits or girl parts.

Funny story about that. My MIL called it a Peter when DH was little, so it's all he knew it as. Fast forward a few years to his first day of Kindergarten. He came flying in the door after school telling his mother, "Mommy! There's a Peter in my class and he walks and talks!"
DublinMama - in my house when I was little girly bits were called a "twinkle", which was fine, until I became slightly more aware, and did more than a double take while singing the song, "Twinkle, twinkle little star..." )
I've read that one thing you can do for your kids to prevent sexual assault is to teach them the real words for their private parts. It apparently is both a deterrent and can be vital to prosecution if, heaven forbid, something did happen. It's apparently very difficult to prosecute someone for touching a "peach" but a vagina is a very different story.
We'll go with proper names here too. Not to add this disturbing thought, but I read somewhere that you should teach them the proper names bc child molsters don't use them. So if they start using other words to describe their bits then you may question where they learned them.
We use vagina. Although dd gets it confused with her butt. But usually she says Gima. For penis, I alternate between penis and pee pee. Boobs are boobs or boobies. I regret telling DD what nipples were. That caused many embarrassments. But hearing about her "belly nipples" sorta made it worth it. And butts are butts or hineys. And balls are balls.

You and I must have read the same thing!
Lol either I'm a super slow typer or i missed that post!
DH calls DS's penis a pecker (that's what his parents called his penis when he was a little boy). I call it a pee pee- my short version of "private parts". But I will also make sure he knows the correct/real name of it is penis. Boobs are boobs and vagina will be vagina but will mostly use pee pee for that also.
This is really funny. After reading this post I asked my husband how we would refer to DD's vagina. I said do you want to keep it scientific? He said yes and then informed me that vulva would be more specific. I guess she will be saying vulva. I can just picture her in school telling a teacher that her vulva itches or something crazy like that.
Penis and vagina. I know we should technically be calling it a vulva because that is what DD is pointing to when she talks about it, but I hate the word vulva, so vagina it is!

I feel similarly. Reason 137 why I am glad I have a son
We use penis and vagina for the same reason others said - in case something (God forbid) happens, then they can describe them the right way. But what is interesting is that as I say that, I do call them boobs and not breasts. Hmm.
But funny story - a friend's kid hurt herself on the playground and when her parents came to pick her up, the teacher told them that she kept saying her 'angina' hurt.
DD1 has had problems with rashes (not diaper rashes) on her vulva and around her anus since she was about a year old. Back then I just always talked about going to the doctor to look at her "bottom" and putting on her "bottom creme" without differentiating because, well, she was one. But it has stuck and right now she refers to it all as her bottom or, as the Germans call it for kids, her po-po. I should probably start differentiating soon and suppose I'll use either vagina or vulva.

usually it's "stop playing with that and let me put your diaper on! you'll have plenty of time to play with it when you're older." when he's old enough to learn the words, we'll use the correct ones.
but his butt is usually booty or tush, just because i find those words cute. and also sometimes if i tell him to shake his booty, he'll dance, and that's ADORABLE.
We call it Mr Peeper. I have no clue where it came from, but I said it once and it stuck. DS1 learned pretty quickly once he started going to preschool that is actually called a penis, but it has been so hilarious calling it Mr Peeper, that we had to keep it going with DS2
