Anyone else nearly faint?

Last night I was at a comedy show and nearly fainted. I put my head between my legs (as far as you can with a 6 mth belly in the way!) and it helped a bit but I still felt faint. I'm planning to go to a few more of these shows, anyone else know how to prevent this? I wondered if it might have been sitting in one position for an hour cutting off blood circulation or heat or lack of air because it was quite stuffy. Anyway, advice appreciated :)

Re: Anyone else nearly faint?

  • This has happened to me and it feels awful! Actually got sick from it once. I had an episode during a dr appt and had to lay down, she said that it was my sugar, I need to eat more protein to keep it stable through out the day and of course stay hydrated! I now carry string cheese, mixed nuts w me and hasn't happened since. GL

  • Yes, but it hasn't happened to me in about a month. I never knew how awful feeling dizzy/faint really was until it happened to me. It's very scary! It was happening on and off beginning of second trimester. Sometimes I would even feel I was going to pass out while laying down in bed. I was in the bathroom one night and was washing my hands. It came on so suddenly and before I knew it I was in the hallway on the floor outside our bathroom. My OB said if possible to check your blood pressure (@CVS or somewhere!) to keep an eye on things. Also, I thought I was doing good with drinking water but now I drink 100oz. a day and keep snacks in my purse (nuts, banana, granola bar) and eat something real quick if I start to feel faint. Luckily, this has worked for me and I haven't had any issues for the past month. Definitely talk to your doctor about it though so they can make sure it's not anything more serious!

  • It's happened to me. It happened maybe 2 months ago and I felt like my temp sky rocketed and I was breaking out in sweats, but DH said I wasn't sweating. I called my dr that Monday and she said its because I hadn't ate anything for a couple of hours. She told me to keep snacks on me at all times just to be on the safe side.

  • This happens to me when my blood sugar spikes high or low. I'm still trying to get my OB to take me seriously... I'm not exactly sure whether it happens when I spike high or low.

  • I did it a couple times with DD. They think it was a drop in my blood pressure bc it wasn't my blood sugar. It sucks.
