7 1/2 month old difficult to feed

My DD is all of the sudden really distracted. She's always been that way, but in the past I could get her to eat again after so stopped to see what's going on. Now she eats for a couple minutes and screams and pushes away and I can't get her to eat any more. I don't think she fills up. I pump during the week so I know it's frustration with low supply. The lady that babysits her says she has to constantly get her to go back to the bottle. Does anyone have advice on this? I've gone to her bedroom to feed her, but she still hears noises and gets distracted.

Have you tried putting something appealing to your LO on your shoulder (same side as nursing)? That helps me with DD. I put a taggies blanket or a love or something there so she can play with it and nurse at the same time. GL.

  • No, I haven't tried that. I will try it next time I nurse her. I just had another difficult nursing session with her. I'm getting so frustrated. I'm so close to giving up on BFing.

My LO is at the same stage. I also think she's gotten much more effective at eating so it takes less time to get more. And I keep throwing the boob in her mouth as often as I used to and she doesn't seem to need it as much. I just wait and play with her until she seems hungry then try again.

  • Thanks everyone! These are all great suggestions. DD had always been a really fast eater (5-10 minutes) so I think the shorter sessions aren't enough for her. I'm having trouble determining if she's full or distracted. She didn't gain enough at her 6 month appt so we had a weight check at 7 months. She was back up again, but now this started. So I'm worried she isn't getting enough. I will try offering something to play with and not getting frustrated. I've definitely been getting more fruatrated over the last day.
