What does that spell?? Sweet relief!

But seriously, let's talk about the big snip. Whose husbands are having this procedure soon? My husband started researching it and said there are two ways to do it.... I think one uses tools and the other uses lasers or something like that. Clearly I know very little about this surgery

Also, any thoughts on timing? This sounds morbid, but I kind of want to wait a few months until we're out of the highest SIDS risk window.

Let's get the discussion going! I know I'm not the only one here who's anxious to have a more permanent form of birth control in place now that our family is as big as we want it to be.

I wish my husband would even consider it. He won't discuss it at all. I'm thinking I may go with the iud or even implanon. I refuse to get a tubal.

We are definitely DONE, but I'm not sure if we'll go this route or not. I had the mirena in during the time between #2 and #3 and loved, loved, loved not having a period. Even if my DH got the snip, I'd still want the mirena to stop my periods so I feel like it might be over kill to do both. Still debating this one..

Mine is getting it done. Here drs won't do the procedure while your wife is pregnant (I know, sounds ridiculous...and I have to sign off on which I think is absurd). We were done before #3 so we are definitely done done now. I keep urging him to call soon. He's so nervous because he hates drs. But after he's seen me crying over painful latches and getting my nipple tugged on and pulled by a 10 day old....he knows what he needs to do.

If money were no object, I would love to have more babies. But as it stands, we're going to be stretched financially (daycare!) and logistically with 2, so no more.

DH is totally willing to have a vasectomy; in fact, he volunteered before I could even bring it up. Like @MamaFantastic‌, I also morbidly want to wait until we're past the SIDS zone. So maybe when DS is 6ish months....?

My hubs was ready to sign on the dotted line in the delivery room!! He always insisted we needed 2, he doesn't think an only child can grow up to be normal. After the pregnancy & now having our son in our lives he is reconsidering that stance. I'm over 35, so if we are gonna do it again we need to get a move on! Once we decide what our plan is the vasaectomy will def be on the table for discussion.

This is us. Except I can't get an IUD bc of my heart shaped ute. Really disappointed about that bc I was hoping to avoid getting back on BCPs. But that's the plan -- 32 just seems too young to get snipped (for us personally!). And there's also definitely the "what if" factor (what if we do want another...or what if something happened to one of our kids).

We may or may not be done yet but when the time comes DH said he is open to it. I refuse to take hormones and he is against the copper iud due to his stance on abortion. So it's condoms and family planning until then. Definitely looking forward to the big snip when the time comes though!

Also to join the morbid convo a bit- if i die young and DH remarries, it's possible he will want to have children with his new wife. So I figure even if we are done with kids we will wait until he is older (just turned 30 last year).

DH and I always said we wanted three kids, but now that LO2 is here DH is a bit resistant to have a third. Regardless, DH has already agreed that he's going to get snipped when we've decided we're done having kids.

We aren't done yet, just had our first, but DH said its only fair that I give him babies and he gets snipped when we are done. I could not agree more!

We'll have this discussion when we're done procreating for sure. The day after I delivered I said we were one and done. Haha! By day 3pp I reconsidered. It really is true what they say... it's worth it, and you really do "forget"

We have done zero research on it. We know we want at least 1 more if not 2. Since I will be repeat sections while my OB is in there we'll just tie my tubes.

We did have the conversation. DH was wondering does anything actually still come out? He seems to think sex would feel different. My theory is, if it felt that different men wouldn't be getting it done!

My SIL's bf had one done a couple of weeks before their 2 nd child was born. Sadly, my nephew passed away from SIDS at 10 weeks. Years later they have split up and my SIL has had 2 more children. He is in his early 30's now and not able to have any more. After witnessing this I personally would wait a year after the birth of my last child.

We're basically 99.9% sure that I'm done being pregnant. It's just such an ordeal for me with all the meds, bedrest, and PTL stress. I think I'll get an IUD and then he'll do a V in a few years. We may add to our family through adoption. The one thing about the V- it's definitely easier to reverse than a tubal.

DH is considering it. I'm getting the mirena so I won't have periods but he is still on the fence. If they would put him under while doing it he would already have it done. He's a big baby when it comes to stuff like that.

I flat out told my husband I was not going on hormonal BC ever again. I wasn't happy with how it affected my body. I do not trust condoms when we know we are all done having kids, so I told him the birth control was on him from now on. Fortunately, he had the good sense to not object to my plan

FFSC: I lose respect for any man who acts like a baby about having a vasectomy. Man up, dude. Don't make me remind you about the 10cm I dilated... twice. If you object for logical, non-pain-related reasons, that's different. We can talk about that. If you object because "owwwww my ballllllssss

DH has said he'll have it done but I'm not sure when. I've been done at two from before I even got pregnant with this one but now I'm not so sure. I can't do hormonal BC so I'm not sure what we will do yet. Since sex isn't even a blip on my radar, we've got time to figure that out.

Put us in the so effing done column. My ob will give us a referral when I have my 6 week checkup. She probably would have written one for me in the hospital because we were joking about it while I was in labour. She was supposed to do a tubal for me but I ended up having a vaginal birth instead. While having a hard contraction, I joked " so doc, about that tubal I'm not getting..." And then shot DH a look.
