Blood pressure jigsaw

Hi all,

Some of you may remember my birth story...emergency c section because of rapid onset preeclampsia. At delivery my blood pressure was like 191/117. Scary.

After that, it took a while for it to come down. It was so high in the hospital post delivery they kept me for 5 days instead of 3. Even then they were hesitant to send me home, but they did, with a Rx for blood pressure medicine.

This was after a picture perfect pregnancy (as far as BP is concerned)...every OB visit my BP 120/80, 124/79, etc.

3 weeks PP, I took my BP as instructed at home and it was 90/60. Called and they said "ok your body is finally done with pre-e. Stop taking BP meds but continue to monitor."

After it stabilized back to perfection again, I stopped monitoring (around 5 weeks pp).

Now I am 7 weeks pp. I felt funny tonight and asked my DH to take it. It was 94/68. Should I be concerned? Is this too low? Hypotension maybe? Thoughts, @babycaps‌ (and anyone else with BP experience? I plan to call my Dr Monday...don't really feel like going to the ER tonight...

Re: Blood pressure jigsaw

  • I wouldn't be too worried. I have high bp all the time and pregnancy exacerbated it. I would say your body is probably trying to adjust. Maybe watch it for a few days and call your dr if it stays that low, but I wouldn't be too concerned. Make sure you're staying hydrated.

  • My normal is 100/60, sometimes 90/50. It all started the day I had DS and has never gone back up in almost 3 years.
I would def talk to your doctor about it and just look out for signs like being dizzy.
