OB said we'd do an RCS a week before my due date, July 5th for me- a Saturday. Do the schedule that stuff for the weekend or would the aim for Friday/Monday?
They schedule for 39 weeks-ish at my office. I think it just depends on the doctor's schedule. She said I could either do Tues (exactly 39 weeks) or Friday. I picked Tuesday to avoid the weekend.

I was told today that I have to schedule a RCS as a back up because I'm aiming for a vbac but they won't induce, so if LO isn't here by my due date they want a plan already in place. I'm hoping I can push it to after the holiday (EDD Is July 3 and I'd like as much chance to go into labor naturally) but she said to look at week 39-40 and they only schedule them Monday-Friday. No weekend scheduled RCS.
39 weeks is a Saturday for me too. They won't schedule before 39 weeks and they won't schedule over the weekend so chances are mine will be on Monday at 39w2d. We will be scheduling it at my appointment next week!
No idea when mine will be scheduled or if I get to pick a date. Only thing I know is that I will get one if I make it to week 37. I am kinda hoping for Monday the 14th
Due July 11th. A week before would have been July 4th & they said since its a holiday the dr wouldn't want to schedule it for that day so July 7th it is for me. Which worked out great since July 4th is our anniversary & that will make the baby's bday 7/7/14 which I think is so neat!!
I'm due July 12, and they had it scheduled for July 5th, BUT the hospital called my doc's office and said they aren't doing any RCS's over the holiday weekend due to lower staffing, so I then was rescheduled for Monday July 7th. My doc's office handled all that and called me and sent me a packet.
I'm also due the 11th but at my next appt we will be scheduling a RCS at 37 weeks if I make it till then with these twin boys. We are thinking the 3rd week of June possibly.
My dr's on call shift overnight is on Wednesdays. So since I will be 39 weeks on a Tuesday she scheduled me for Wednesday the 9th. That way she will be the dr checking on me overnight after surgery. I wasn't given a choice about day.
Hi I've been told by my consultant that they will do the c section not before 39 weeks. But I will get my date at my 36th week app. They won't do it at the weekend (I'm in the uk so could be different here)! X
They scheduled mine at exactly 39 weeks, so Wednesday June 25. I was a little bummed, cuz I thought you could "pick the birthday" but I'm over it. It was more surprised than bummed I suppose. Oh well! See you June 25, little guy.
My hospital registration packet has an entire section on c-section scheduling. They had a paragraph on there that stated if they have a higher amount of women in their L&D unit than planned, that they could call you and change your scheduled date. So far i haven't had any complications that would make them have to schedule one for me, but I thought it was interesting that they could change it a day or two before if they needed to. No idea if they actually have to do that often or not.
Ob said they won't allow a RCS more than 7 days out. EDD is July 15. He said July 8-11 for me and at my next appointment on May 6 they will send me to scheduling. Hubby wants me to choose July 11, a Friday since the weekend nurses were the BEST last time around and he said he will get more time off work!! We will see. My regular OB is on vacation that week so I don't know who I'll end up with.
Thanks all! Great point about picking surgeon. IDK them, but I'm thinking I DO want to avoid 2 of the 4 OB's- the men in the practice have a curt bedside manor and I trust them medically- bu tnot sure they'd be making to many decisions during this procedure. . But really, if I'm not laboring, then it doesn't matter as much who the OB is.
My RCS is scheduled for exactly 39w, so that's Monday 23rd June.
Unfortunately my OB is not in surgery that week, so I'm waiting to hear who the surgeon is. OB's nurse said she probably can't find out until the week before. I am bummed because my OB delivered both DD (emerg CS) and DS (RCS).
I would never intentionally schedule surgery for a Friday or over a weekend. I'd aim for that Monday/Tuesday instead so you'll have the full week-day staff.
I could pick my own date (except weeks ends) an I choose to have her on the 4th. An independence baby!!! Then they call back saying it's a national holiday only surgeons will only be on call. So I'm scheduled to have her the 3. Close enough. We can still have our cake an fireworks.
My EDD is July 9, a Wednesday. My hospital is not scheduling surgeries for the 4th, 5th, or 6th. We were given the choice between the 3rd or the 7th. We went with the 3rd because I prefer the OB available that day.
I am going to be talking to my OB at my appointment next week about whether she wants to schedule a RCS date for me after my EDD (July 12th) as a back-up plan just in case I don't go into labour by then.
I am hoping for a VBAC but if I make it to my due date without going into labour on my own that option is off the table for me (policy is not overdue and no induction for a VBAC) and a RCS will be necessary.

How do you find out info on the surgeon?
