April 2014 Moms

Trouble napping. Ugh.

My LO sleeps for approx. 4 hours throughout the whole night (1.5-2 hour stretches). By the time she's sleeping throughout the day, I feel wide awake and not able to nap. If I'm lucky, I'll catch some z's between 2-3:30ish, but that's about it.

Anyone else struggling to "nap when the baby naps?" I realize naps will be nearly impossible in the future with a toddler and baby, so I'm trying to maximize this "gift" now as a FTM. I feel like such a zombie by 9 pm when she's awake for feeding :-)

  • I'm in the exact same boat as you!

Same here! DH goes back to work monday and I'm not sure what I'm gonna do!

    Edit: spelling
  • Try just laying down and reading. Sometimes you just need to shut your mind off and being up and around doing chores, etc won't help you get any rest. Even if you don't end up falling asleep, you'll give your body more rest than you would doing other things.

  • Feel your pain! Takes me awhile to fall asleep too even though I am exhausted. So frustrating!
  • Yep I can't do it, I end up laying there obsessing over everything else that needs to get done while the toddler is asleep.

Thanks, ladies! I should probably resort to at least closing my eyes during these pockets of time even if I don't sleep. It certainly can't hurt!
  • I have never been able to nap. My mind doesn't turn off durung the day. Now when my toddler and DS are napping i usually take a nice hot shower.
