Anyone else having an easy recovery?

With my c/s, I felt good after 2 weeks, my VBAC had me out of commission for at least 6 wks (and loss of bladder control for several months), but my epi-free 3rd birth was crazy easy. I woke up from a nap a few hours after delivering her and didn't even feel like I had had a baby! Now that I'm at 2 wks pp, I feel totally normal, even like I could have sex! Considering the fact that my L&Ds for babies 1 and 2 were rather traumatic, I guess I deserve this.

Re: Anyone else having an easy recovery?

  • I had a scheduled c-section and the recovery has been amazing. I was up walking within 12 hours, refused all narcotic pain meds, and cooked dinner the day after we came home from the hospital. It has really been a blessing to bounce back so quickly!
  • Loading the player...
  • I wouldn't say it's been easy, but it hadn't been nearly as bad as I was expecting so I really can't complain. The tailbone pain was the worst of it.
  • I was induced, but no epi. I would say it has been pretty easy, though I do still feel bruising from year and episiotomy. Ready to be able to go full force, but I know my stitches haven't healed yet.
  • My first 48 hours was complicated by bleeding and clots but once I stabilized from that and got my iron levels up, I've felt great.

My first birth had me out of commission for a good 6 weeks, had a major tare and lots of stitches. My second was a very easy recovery, no complications at all and I was up on my feet within 30 mins of having him.

I feel better with this recovery than I did last time, but I think it's more because I know what to expect this time. And this time my labor was shorter and baby was almost a lb bigger than my dd. I was up and ready to take walks and get out of the house right away this time, and I think I've bled less too.

  • The first day I wasn't feeling too well but now six days later I feel totally fine. My boobs hurt, but that's it. In fact, this is how it's been with every one. They've all been natural. I can't imagine feeling well for a loooong time after a Csection though! I know moms who've had one say it's NBD but they're a hell of a lot stronger than I!

  • I feel pretty good. I had a second degree tear, but my baby was only 6 lbs so I'm doing pretty well. My tear never bothered me---never had any trouble sitting or anything. Only pain relief i had after birth was ibuprofen and I stopped taking that once the hospital stopped giving it to me. My first poop was actually a couple hours after delivery and was just fine, so all in all I'm doing well. I feel much more energetic now that I'm not pregnant despite the sleep deprivation.

Had our first baby, Samuel Robert, on April 17, 2014!

  • Cervidil induction without pain meds and I feel great at 8 days pp. No tearing though so that's probably why. I even started exercising again yesterday (when I can find time between nursing so nothing intense).
  • If my boobs would come back under control I'd feel like my normal self, just missing some sleep. With DD1 I felt like I'd been kicked in the vag for months, and like my insides were going to fall right out of me. That's the difference between a 36hr labor with a 9lb10oz baby and a 14hr labor with an 8lb1oz baby.

we're pretty sure our family is complete, but if you could guarantee me another baby would be in the 7-8lb range I'd totally do it again. Soon.

  • Mine has been a pretty good recovery. I still need ibuprofen to deal with pp contractions but that's my only issue which was expected. Much better second time around for nearly identical deliveries.
  • I'm at 40 hours pp right now and feel pretty good. My butt gets sore if I sit too long but that's the worst of the pain. My appetite is down though and I'm feeling a little weak...nothing a little chocolate milk, coffee and sleep can't fix.

  • 8 days PP and feeling good. I didn't tear so I'm just experiencing some bleeding, which is nothing worse than the end of a period. I even exercised yesterday! Yay to easy, fast recoveries.
  • I am 4 days out today. I really feel pretty good - I haven't taken any pain meds since delivery. I have some soreness in my tailbone and this little woman did a number on my nipples last night as she was nursing relentlessly but it is all manageable. I am ready to be up and moving around. I wish it would warm up here so I could take the little peanut for a walk.

  • I feel really good (11 days pp) and everyone that visited us has made comments about how well I'm "moving around." .  Even after I delivered the triplets last year, I was up and "moving around" quickly.  I think part of it is I don't like sitting still...

  • I feel great, too. I also had a med free birth. Labor was only four hours! I did end up with labial tears - which I didn't even know were possible.

Two hours after giving birth I was showering and getting dressed. I have been really active and haven't needed any sort of pain medication. I've been taking an hour long daily walk since 3 days pp. I am back in heels. I shower daily.

My stitches haven't bothered me. Bleeding is very minimal. I sleep better now than I have in months. Heck, my nipples don't even hurt! I feel very fortunate because I planned to be a train wreck for months!!
  • DD's birth was pretty short (6 hours) but there was 2 hours of pushing which left me really swollen, plus a little tear that required 2 stitches. It took weeks for me to start feel better again.

This time was totally different... DS was born in 4 hours with only 8 minutes of pushing! I felt normal again almost right after having him, except for just being tired. No swelling, no tearing, no pain... so weird. Even my bleeding has been way less.

  • I had 21 stitches from an episiotomy and the use of forceps and actually after a few days I was fine. And now, two weeks pp I'm barely bleeding.

The recovery wasn't as bad as I was anticipating.
  • Yup! My body feels great and I had hardly any recovery pain because I did not tear. The fact that she's a super sleeper at night makes me feel like a calm, well rested, happy fraud.... things are 10x easier than they were with just kiddo as a baby.
  • Thankfully mine was easy as well. I didn't need any pain meds ever for my c section. I was cleaning the hospital room the second day after surgery and was able to go home a day early. Now at 2 weeks PP I don't feel like I hade surgery at all.

  • I am 8 days postpartum after a c section and I feel pretty good. I had pretty bad constipation which was occasionally miserable and I think a bladder infection. I am moving around great and we are going on daily walks. Bleeding is minimal as well. It's been a much easier recovery than I expected.
  • My recovery has been better this time. My first 2 births 1 epi, 1 med free I had to take Percocet & ibuprofen around the clock for weeks. I was in a lot of pain. This time I got an epi at 8.5-9cm biggest baby 9.15 lbs. didn't tear but I did take ibuprofen for 2 weeks ever 6 hours. I pushed for an hour and my body was very sore. It also didn't help that I got a cold the 2nd week. But for sure the easyest recovery yet. Kinda makes me scared to have more kids it's been so easy.
  • I was walking around at 8 am after I had my LO at 1:31 am I felt like I didn't have a baby. Besides my stitches being itchy I lucked out no pain or anything

I felt good right away. I had some soreness and swelling, but at two weeks pp those are long forgotten. I'd love to try to work out, but I'm not, I'm going to play it safe... Now if my leaky boobs and hormones would settled down, I probably wouldn't care about the lack of sleep.
  • We're a month in and I feel totally back to normal. I was induced at 35 weeks and gave birth to a 6.7 oz. baby vaginally with no meds. Had a tiny tear which was sore for two weeks or so. I am actually shocked that my body bounced back so quickly! I was anticipating a much worse recovery, for sure.
  • I hope I'm not speaking too soon, but recovery had been SO easy this time around. I had a NUCB and an almost 9 lb baby with no tearing at 4pm and was discharged from the hospital the next morning feeling totally fine aside from a bit of vaginal swelling. DH is on dinner duty for at least the next week, because why not take advantage of that, but otherwise I've been carrying on as usual since Monday.

  • I'm two weeks out and feel completely normal. The only thing that is bothering me is peeine myself. Although I can tell its getting better, it's still frustrating.
  • This cs recovery has been so much easier than my last. I've been doing housework and getting out and about a lot sooner with minimal soreness. I'm only 3 weeks pp and cleared to do everything.
  • I'm 6d pp retore my same 2nd degree from last time and my pubic bones feel a little "bruised". Overall I feel great, and elated to be home instead of going back and forth to the NICU like last time. I overdid it the last 2 days and am paying for it a bit. After being out of the house almost all day yesterday my bleeding and pain increased. I'm parked on the couch today, napping, taking my ibuprofen on time and even staying in my PJs. I feel great. Now if my engorgement would just resolve I'd be back to myself.

  • I am 12 days PP mild bleeding now it was hard for me I did everything by my self the first week , my boyfriend, my mom , and my son where with stomach virus, I was in my room isolated I was bleeding a lot ,a lot of pain I still have the pain I can feel my stitches when I seat I can feel when my skin stretches (3 second degree tears)
  • My recovery this time around is night and day to the first time.  The first time I had a 3rd degree tear this time second degree.  All the doctors keep laughing at me when I say I feel "awesome" - not something someone with a second degree tear usually says, but it's all relative I think.  I also emotionally feel much better, breastfeeding is going much better.  It's been a night and day experience to my first birth.

  • Physically I feel so much better than when I was pregnant. But I'm definitely nowhere near back to normal. I feel like I am sometimes, and then I go for a walk and find myself crazy sore way faster than I would've expected. And my stitches are still bugging me a lot. Recovery is definitely not as bad as I feared, but I do feel like I need a few more weeks before trying to work out or have sex.
