BTDT mamas, if you were given cervadil, can you tell me about your experience with it? Did you need the pitocin, or did the cervadil do enough stimulating on its own?
Cervadil was enough. They had to take it out after an hour because the contractions got too strong too fast, but I went the rest if the way on my own then.
I had it the night before induction. It was placed mid afternoon and I woke up to my water breaking "on it's own", dilated to 4 early the next morning. I had pitocin after that.
I had one placed at around 10:30pm and my water broke about two hours later and contractions followed fast and furious. I only needed Pitocin after two hours of pushing when my contractions started to slow and DD wasn't coming. When they placed it they told me it was rare that it kicked someone into full blown labor but it worked for me.
I had one single dose of Prostin (same drug, different brand name) placed at 38w6d and one double dose placed 3 days later. No change. At 8 p.m. 39w6d I had one dose of Cytotec placed; 4 hrs later I had another. Still no change. At 5 a.m. on my due date I started Pitocin. At 9:30 a.m. my OB broke my water.
Had it placed around 10 PM, woke up to go to the bathroom at 4:30 am and my water broke. Started pitocin at 5:30 am and he was delivered at 5:30 pm. I was 38+3.

Blah blah blah...contrax contrax...epidural...blah blah blah...
By 4 p.m. I'd only dilated to 2.5 cm and then my cervix swelled shut.
At 5:20 p.m. DS arrived by C-section. Turned out his head was too large for my pelvic opening.
