Working out/ Running

Anyone working out yet?

If so what are you doing?

I've been feeling better and was thinking of going for a run tomorrow.. It's only been about 2 weeks and I don't want to push it, but I feel like I can do it.

Re: Working out/ Running

  • I hate working out and I am still incredibly jealous that you have the energy to do so at 2w pp!

I can't even see the light at the end of the tunnel yet, in terms of not being in pain.

  • I'm dying to go for a run! I'm 11 days pp, so I feel like I need to ease into it. With spring finally arriving here in MA I don't think I'll be able to put it off much longer!
  • Ugh! So wish I could go running! Stupid cs means it's gonna be a while tho! Most I am doing is walking my dogs a few miles a day, pretty slow going tho! I am 2 weeks pp & I don't imagine my incision will let me run till 6 weeks pp, so ready to lose this baby weight!!
  • I've done some walking -- was told to wait until 6 weeks to do anything more vigorous than that.

  • My lady bits itch like cray after just walking a mile, so no jogging for me until after my 6 week pp appointment. I am really antsy to feel fit again, but I dread the transitional period to get to that point. I hate running initially, lol.
  • That's what I was afraid of.. Just cause I FEEL I can doesn't mean I should.
I'll just stick to our walks for now

  • I started walking at 2 weeks PP, and I'm doing a little bit with the 5lb dumbbells.

I won't run till after my 6w check up  - waiting for clearance from the doc and for my supply to regulate.

My doc gave me the go ahead yesterday but to take it easy for 2 reasons - can impact milk supply if you lose weight (fat) too quick, and you could start bleeding again (which means it's too much too soon). I'm 3 wks pp. Just listen to your body! Good luck!
  • I'm also 2 weeks pp and feel the need to start working out but I know my body isn't ready yet even though I feel pretty good. I think I'll just stick to walking for now too

  • I still have an inside baby but I was asking my midwife about pp exercise.  She said to do whatever I find tolerable.  If I can tolerate it (to within a reasonable degree) go for it.
  • I have been taking a daily hour long walk since 4 days pp. I hope to increase it to 90 minutes and pick up the pace a little more once I hit two weeks pp (on Tuesday).

I saw my OB on Wednesday and told him I was walking regularly. He said he had no concerns as long as I felt up for it and didn't experience a sharp increase in bright red bleeding.
  • I wish I had your motivation and energy, but i am still in survival mode.

  • My little guy doesn't sleep good st night. He eats ever 1.5 hours and wakes up a lot. I have a 2 other children so I'm up at 630 am daily. I wish I had the energy to start walking/working out .
  • 4 weeks today and I haven't done anything more than brisk walks (though they ARE 2 miles or so). When I attempt to run (chasing the USPS truck... ha!) my uterus feels like it's thumping up and down inside my body and I ache a bit. I can tell I'm not quite ready yet. A few more weeks!!
  • I would definitely wait until your PP appt before running!

That said, I did a 3 mile walk 9 days after my RCS (didn't really set out to go that far -- we walked to the playground and we thought it was closer). I felt fine afterwards but it did cause some new clots and bleeding.
