I have been pretty much EP (mostly pumping anyway - I BF on the weekends occasionally).  My twins are almost 4 months now and I think my period is coming! I thought I would get to go longer than this!  How long until your periods came back? I'm thinking it's because I will go 5 hours (sometimes 6) at night if they're sleeping now.  It used to be pumping every 3 hours around the clock!
1st FET 2/14/2013 Happy Valentines Day! - BFN
2nd FET 6/14/2013 - BPF!!! -
1st Beta: 1046!!!!! - 2nd Beta: 2754!!!!!
First u/s 7/11/2013 - TWINS!!! 120 and 124 heartbeats <3
Second u/s 7/29/2013 - wiggley babies! 178 and 184 heartbeats!
Third u/s 9/9/2013 - 157 and 161 heartbeats ... a BOY and a GIRL!!!! Cervix on the "shorter side" (3-3.3) - going to check again in 2 weeks.
Fourth u/s 9/23/2013 - Baby A = 157 Baby B = 150 heartbeat. Cervix now 2.3-2.6 ... being referred to a MFM
MFM Appointment 9/26/2013 = Both babies healthy, cervix now measuring at 4 - Playing tricks on me ... will follow up in 2 weeks.
Cervical check 10/7 with regular OB - 2.1cm  --- going BACK to the MFM armed with ultrasound pictures from my OB of my cervix. *sigh*
MFM Appointment 10/8 - confirmed my cervix at 2.1cm - putting me on Progesterone for a week.
MFM Appointment 10/17 - Cervix unchanged! Keeping me on Progesterone - followup 10/29

    it can really vary a lot from woman to woman. i breastfed at home and pumped at work, and i got mine back at 1 year. i do think that sleeping a long block during the night has something to do with it. my DS was never a great sleeper and always reverse-cycled to some degree, so that's probably why i went so long without a period.

    My experience echoes what @casey78 and @vvvvvfee said.  I also believe sleeping through the night is a contributor.  I EPed regularly in the middle of the night with my first son (for selfish purposes, those middle of the night pumps with the high hormone levels was the easiest way to keep my supply going strong).  My cycle did not start back up to the 1 year mark.  Meanwhile a friend of mine who did sleep training, she was back at 'em just a few months in.

    I got mine when he was about 7 months old. It skipped a month then came back. Odd....

    It depends so much on the person.  I got AF back when DD was 15.5 months old, it seemed to coincide with dropping from 3 nursing sessions down to 2.  Still nothing with DS (he's almost 16 months).  But my SIL also EBF and she got hers at 3 months pp and 5 months pp.

    For what it's worth sometimes it seems as if AF is gearing up to return, but then nothing happens, maybe it will be the same for you.

    @sschwege - I wonder! I started spotting (VERY LIGHT) and now nothing.  Weird... our bodies do such crazy things.

    I think it's just different for everyone... No sign of AF for me at 8.5 months. LO has STTN for a while now, which I was afraid would cause AF to arrive.

    Great question. I was wondering that myself. AF still not back at 4 mo. For me. I was wondering though if any of y'all were on the mini pill and that had anything to do with it either.

    I got mine back at 9m. It was a few weeks after DD started STTN. Before that she was eating every 3 hours day and night.

    My DD is 8 weeks an AF arrived yesterday. I was disappointed slso hoping it would be much longer. By 6 weeks we went from 3 motn feeds to 1. To be honest I would rather have the sleep though. I didn't realize your hormones are higher at night.

    I posted this same question last month when I got mine just shy of 4 months.  It has now been almost 6 weeks since then and no sign of a return period.  It was also Extremely light and only lasted about 2 days. I had been sick the weekend before and I am wondering if somehow that contributed to it, even though I only missed 1 feeding the whole time I was sick, but I didn't eat for 2 days and I barely drank any water.

    I'm hoping it was just a fluke and it won't come back for a few more months :)

    No, I've never been on the mini pill.  BFing has always been a good form of BC for us, but obviously varies.

    Posting from TTGP. I do combo BF and formula and still no AF although I had light spotting for 3 days this week but then nothing else.

    me = 32  DH = 33

    BFP2 august 2014 ended in m/c .... Gone but not forgotten....forever in my heart!
