I feel so full, so quickly!

I am 19 weeks and when I eat any meal I can't eat much. After eating, I feel like I just ate at an all you can eat buffet! I thought this started later in pregnancy. Anyone else experiencing this??

Re: I feel so full, so quickly!

  • I wish I had this problem <sigh>.  Unfortunately I don't get the memo I'm full for about half an hour, and by then I've already eaten more than DH!

  • Yes! I think it started earlier this time for me too

  • This happened to me with DS. It kept me from eating too much, but it was hard since you are hungry!! Sometimes it was very uncomfortable. Sucking on ice really helped me. I ate about a million Tums, but I don't think they did much. Alka Seltzer fruit chews are good though!!

Some days I feel full easily, other days I feel like I could go for a 2nd or 3rd helping. It's ridiculous! If I notice that I feel more hungry than usual, I try to up my protein intake with snacks such as greek yogurt, cheese/cracker, nuts, pb etc.

As long you're getting the necessary nutrition, you should be okay. =)

  • I know how you feel.  Ive felt that way pretty much from week 7 or so.  I try eating slow (im a pretty fast eater usually) and smaller but more frequent meals/snacks.

  • Definitely happening here. :( I ate one small BBQ sandwich and felt like my stomach was gonna pop. I had to lay on the couch for an hour before it passed. Then I was hungry again...

  • Yes! Exactly! But then 20 minutes later I'm starving again. I feel like I've had gastric bypass.
  • I feel the same way and still feel miserably full 4 hours later. Happens mostly at lunch and dinner.

This. First tri was rough for me and I think my stomach shrunk. When I get hungry, it's like I'm suddenly starving but I can only eat a little bit and then I can't eat another bite for hours.

  • This has been me since the first trimester! I know what you mean, it sucks! :(
  • I've finally started to become a hungry beast, but my eyes are probably triple the size of my stomach. I can eat half a sandwich, and maybe most of a bowl of soup before I can't stand the look of food... however 3 hours later I feel like a starving monster and repeat the process where I make way more than I can eat.. then feel guilty having to pack it all up and put it away.

  • Yes to all of this! As a FTM I totally assumed I would be able to eat these huge meals since I'd be "so hungry all the time" but it's the opposite. I'm 20 weeks and I have to eat 6-7 small meals throughout the day because I get so full. I swear it has something to do with my stomach digesting so slowly; cause I stay full for a lot longer too. Try small light meals!

  • I feel exactly that way!! I thought also that it wasn't suppose to start until way later on, like near the end. I've had a good appetite up until the past week and I'm now 18 weeks. Idk if it's bloating or what but I could eat hardly anything and feel like I just had a four course meal and my stomach feel like it's about to pop!
  • Full so fast, hungry so quickly afterward.... There was this thread a couple of weeks ago that shows where all your insides go when boo starts growing so it makes sense because our stomachs are squished up against our diaphragms.
