Rechargeable batteries

Do any of you use rechargeable batteries? I've been looking at our household expenses and am blown away by how much we've spent on batteries in the past 2 years. I'm looking at making the switch to rechargeable and was just curious what others have thought.

I am planning on going with the eneloop brand and the initial investment would be about $100 for what I think we need. When I went to buy batteries for what we need right now would have been about $40 at target.

Re: Rechargeable batteries

  • We've been using these since LO was born, first for our battery-operated swing. Since then I've just slowly bought a pack here and there of other sizes, but we definitely made our money back quickly on those D batteries in the swing.

  • We have a Eneloop set for the shower radio in our bathroom that burns through batteries quickly.  No complaints from me.  We don't use them for anything else in the house though.  I don't think we go through a lot of batteries.
Prior to DD we only used batteries in our smoke detectors. Now all the batteries seem to be going at the same time. We also have family members who seem to love buying DD toys that require batteries.
