A penny for your thoughts

https://www.kidco.com/products-page/peapod/peapod-p3010/

How would you feel about someone putting your baby in this to "play"? Including zipping it up. Presumably while being watched closely, but you're not there, so no guarantees.

My MIL is BSC

Why on earth would they even need to and really really why would they need to zip it.

  • There's an awful lot of warnings attached to this child tent pod...

@cara1024 all excellent questions. We bought them a pack n play. But this was "fun"

@MJamison1020‌ I especially like the one that specifically says not to put infants in it

  • Lord.

MILs are such "special" people. Perhaps you could suggest she zips herself up instead??

  • Umm, no way.  Maybe when she is 3 years old and can unzip herself from it.  My DS1 loves his play tents, but they do up with velcro, and have no bottom so half the time he just goes out the bottom rather than opening the 'door'.
Tell her to stick to the PNP.

To play? no...but for a nap while camping in the woods with lots of bugs, yes. I don't see what the big deal is about this product. And the warnings are not that excessive and mostly reiterate what any sleeping device would warn parents about.

ETA I would not use it for an infant as the product clearly states it is not intended for infant use.

I agree with you. 2 summers ago when my dd and niece were 2 months old my sil had something similar that we would lay the sleeping babies in while we were outside when we were down by the beach at my family lake home. We were able to keep the babies in the shade and still be close enough to our other kids.

My sil's was not this style, but a similar product and we never left them unattended.

  • I agree it will be tons of fun when he's a little older, but when she told me she put him in there to play last weekend it just really made me uncomfortable. The bottom is not open, it's thick soft padding. With it zipped up she can't see him from all sides and it's isolating for him. This was in her house, not a measure to protect from the elements.

I considered that I could be overreacting. But since it's been a week and it's still bothering me, I've decided overreacting are not, I'm just not ok with it for use at this age.
