My due date was friday 4/11 and all day I felt perfectly normal. Went to bed that night and woke up at 12:40 feeling really uncomfortable, I changed positions and tried to get comfortable. I drifted in and out of sleep but still felt sore and couldn't get comfortable. Then after about an hour I started to pay attention to the clock and realized that my "pains" we actually coming at fairly regular intervals about 7 min apart. At 2am I decided to get my butt out of bed and start timing things. By 3 my contractions were about 3 min apart so I decided to go ahead and wake up DH. We then placed a call to his parents so they could come be with DD. We headed to the hospital at 4:30 am and were told I was 6cm dilated. They admitted us.

About 1.5-2hrs later I got my epidural and was feeling pretty good - unfortunately that didn't last as the epi didn't take properly and wore off a few hours later. After what felt like forever with them trying different top ups to get the epi working, they gave me the option of having it redone. By this point I was just over 9 cm dilated and was worried I wouldn't be able to be still long enough to get the new epi - still I agreed and we got it done! It worked great and soon I was feeling fine again.

Around 12:30 I was fully dilated but the baby wasn't as low as they wanted her to be, the doctor decided to have me try pushing on my next contraction to see if that brought her down at all. As soon as I pushed I could tell that she came down and wasn't going back up! They called all the other doctors in and with less than 5 min of pushing DD2 was born!

Abigail Christine was born at 12:42 4/12, almost exactly 12 hours after my first contraction and weighed 7lbs 7oz.
