Pregnant after a Loss

cramps/shooting pains- just need some reassurance

My PGAL brain does NOT like the mild cramping I've been having off/on!  In addition, just this afternoon I've been having mild shooting/sharp pains on the right side (closer to my hip bone).  Seems like the first time I was pregnant someone told me that this was "normal" as the body goes through changes, but since I've experienced both of these symptoms with both of my miscarriages, I can't help but pray they go away quickly!  Some reassurance from my PGAL friends would help to ease my mind!  Thanks ladies :)

  • I think it's fairly common to have random cramps and stabbing/shooting pains as your uterus grows. If it's more painful than it is just bothersome, or if it is really persistent/intense in that one spot, I would suggest calling your doctor for reassurance. FX it's nothing!
  • The occasional twinges and stretching feeling is normal but if it's a constant pain I would call your doctor just to check.

Also could it be gas? Thoughts and prayers to you that it's just normal pregnancy stuff.

I had sharp left sided upper pelvis/hip pains last week. They lasted for 4-5days. I saw my RE and had an US, no found reasons for the pain. Calling it a growing/stretching pain. It's since subsided, every once in a while I'll have a sharp attack, but usually with a sneeze or cough.

  • Sharp pains that go away quickly are *usually* no concern. My MW said concerning pains are ones that are persistent and don't go away no matter what you do (i.e., lie down/rest). If you're still having ongoing pain (cramping) I would maybe ask your doctor. But I've had lots of bouts of mild cramping from 5 weeks onwards, and lots of stabbing pains, and so far things seem to be ok! FX for you!

  • I've had both mild cramping off and on and those sharp pains from time to time in my lower pelvic area on either side, so far all is well! I think it's just growing pains but you could let your dr know and make sure they aren't worried.

  • Thank you all for the advice and support! Right now the sharp pains go away immediately and are only every so often... if it persists, I will likely call my RE just to check. Knowing that others have experienced it makes me feel so much at ease... thanks again for sharing!! ((Hugs)) to you all!
